In light of the upcoming BET Awards, I want to delve into the reputation the network has (at least on here).

It was created by and for Black people.

It's an established network with staple television shows and solid programming.

It does provide decent coverage of important topics, especially those relevant in the Black community.

There's nothing really wrong with its award show, which is no more or less prestigious than any other award show.

It doesn't showcase misbehaved, violent, promiscuous, and immoral young Black American 20-somethings acting a fool anymore than MTV did misbehaved, violent, promiscuous, and immoral young Italian-American 20-somethings acting a fool.

Why is it considered "ratchet", "bootleg" and "not as reputable as _____"?

However why are these white artists nominated what a joke. I can see Robin Thicke. But NO to JT, Macklemore & Ariana. Plus Iggy is such a joke like that best female rapper category

This is not 2003 anymore, he's DOWN already, been down for a while now.

But the nominees for the BET have been late, just like 106, that **** needs to go. The whole channel is all kinds of f'd.

It's not about being DOWN but the quality of his music. Outside of best collaboration he doesn't deserve a nomination in the slightest. And I like him same goes to other artists like charli baltimore

The plan was always to go with friends but I already spent $93 on Yearbook, $135 on school dues, and I have to buy my college material. Plus I'm thinking about buy a new laptop, so I feel guilty for sinking my parents for more money to buy my dress, shoes, ticket, etc. My parents don't have coins to spend like that.

On the other hand I want the memories.
