I think the fact that SM puts more emphasis on her as a visual as well as a main vocal makes her seem like the leader. She's very prominent in the group, but I think she's a bit lazy as well. But she's my bias.

Well my personal views towards Jessica are a mess. For example, she's a snob and she seems to think she's better than the rest of the group, which is a huge negative for me.
But then she has moments where she encourages the others to talk instead of her, or she acts like a sister to them and I lean towards her more than away.
Then of course she does her whole shutting down of the other members when they're having fun or doing something she doesn't agree with, which also pisses me off.
But all of this sort of balances out because I sympathise with her. She didn't go to S. Korea until so late in life that she's basically still American, so it must be incredibly hard to be like that in a Korean group. Personally I know I'd constantly feel like everyone was judging me and hating me because I wasn't Korean.
One of my more liked things about Jessica is that as much as you can tell she loves the spotlight, she seems to be good with not
actually being the leader. She doesn't always pipe up in interviews and she tends not to stand at the front/middle, etc. so that all works well for me.
