Double Platinum IS much in ANY year in the UK. Shania Twain's UP! sold around the same amount as ITZ after her last album went 10x Platinum here.

When you look at other acts like Britney (S Club 7, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls,etc) - her numbers aren't too far off. It's just the type of act she was/is.

Britney was huge here up until the FF era. She holds the record the fastest selling female single here with BOMT and Toxic was the 2nd most played song of the last decade.

I hear Toxic more than any of her recent singles.

I've heard it playing in like 4 different TV shows in the past few months as well. Such a classic.

But at least she had 9 weeks at #1 on Mediatraffic.

"Born To Make You Happy" was the fourth single in the UK and Europe, instead of "From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart," which was released in the US and Australia, and it was originally intended to be the fifth and final release, when both songs switched territories.

At the beginning of 2000, she finished recording "Oops!" and everything was already ready for a new era, so they didn’t have the time for that. “Born To Make You Happy” would have been huge in the States. What a wasted opportunity. “…Baby One More Time” sold 7-8m worldwide this millennium thanks to those two singles. Imagine if they were both properly released worldwide.
