Was Overton not a good person to have on Carrie's team?

If ZBB, Jason Aldean and Luke can sell out these venues so can Carrie. Also the fact Miranda did Madison Square Garden before Carrie.

He was a huge Miranda fan. He thought by putting all his effort on Miranda that she would have the same commercial success Carrie but it never happened.

You could see just how much support he put behind Miranda and not Carrie when he stepped down and Sony had to rely on a intern CEO that Miranda started to suffer and Carrie was able to maintain what she has built with radio support and other outside adventures without any help of a CEO.

I can't wait to see just what this new CEO has in store. He has to know who really brings the money and attention to the label really is. We have seen bits and pieces already since he has came on board

Wow, that's interesting. Didn't know that. One of the reasons why Carrie do so well is because of her amazing voice. Miranda doesn't have that.

If he pulled for her, and he's now gone (+ the fact that the divorce kinda put her in a negative light), then is there at least a realistic shot for Carrie to ever win a CMA again? Or does it go beyond Overton?

I personally think with him gone and the Shelton/Lambert divorce, Carrie has more a better shot than what she used to.

Yes and no. He did put his support behind Miranda and not Carrie but the biggest issue is a behind the scene issue. The people in Nashville have issue with the fact that Carrie doesn't conform like the rest of the artists. If you take a good look at the Country artists, you will find they are all under the same PR team plus they use Livenation as their tour sponsor,

Well Carrie on the other hand has had a PR team out of LA and even when she left XIX she stuck with Ann who has more experience in getting gigs outside of Nashville that most country artists wouldn't even have a chance.

So, Carrie's refusal to go with the rest of the crowd as really effected her in regards to country awards but has given her more access to things and she has the ability win Grammy's even without the real support of her own genre

Queen of standing up for herself and establishing a career outside of Nashville

I mean, I definitely want her to have a long, thriving career rather than pandering to the Nashville crowd, but it sucks that it's at the expense of genre specific recognition.

Essentially, Carrie's string of bad luck boils down to two reasons - one historic, one very current.

A) Sexism - Carrie's turned into a formidable touring artist, and every single she's ever had has gone straight into the top three on Country radio. Why hasn't she been nominated for Entertainer of the Year, ever? She's a WOMAN. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that only four-five women have ever won in the award's forty + history.

B) Politics! A very large voting bloc for the CMA's is led by two people: Scott Borchetta, the founder of Big Machine records, and Narvel Blackstock, who happens to manage Reba, Blake, and Kelly. How in the world do you think Blake and Miranda have won the respective Vocalist categories four years in a row? It's certainly not because they've deserved it year after year. (For the 12-13 year, Miranda had a flop single (Fastest Girl in Town) and one hit (Mama's Broken Heart). Compare that to Ms. Underwood, who notched three number ones on Country Radio and had a sold out headlining tour. Hell, Taylor has one big solo single (Begin Again) and one HUGE collaboration (Highway Don't Care) in the timeframe too.

Carrie is still managed by 19 Entertainment. She has no "roots" in Nashville, so to speak. She, therefore, lifts right out when it comes time to be rewarded by just the Nashville community.

Ace spoke up on this issue after the 2013 CMAs, an insider tweeted that Carrie never has a chance to win a CMA again unless something 'big' happens and blamed it on behind the scenes.
