To translate it for Gaga's situation, once she hits a certain number of appearances/performances, the appearances she makes after that will have less of an effect for her (album/single sales) and at some point, could even start having a negative effect from people` getting sick of seeing her on every talk show, award show etc.

Precisely. At a certain point, too many voices just becomes inaudible noise and people stop listening.
Less is more. Select fewer, more effective promo opportunities for maximum impact.
It's weird with Gaga because she's one of the most famous women in the world, yet she promotes like it ain't no thang. I get that she likes to hustle, but she doesn't need to. A Madonna or Britney appearance is more of an event because they're rarities. Not only would less appearances raise the value of the ones she does do, but it also demands more respect. I got a bit annoyed how some interviewers wouldn't take it too seriously and ask her **** questions or be kind of rude. It's over-familiarity. She lost some of the mystery.
