No one in their right mind should consider this era a flop.

I don't think this era is a flop, but there's no denying that she has done some very serious damage to her image over the course of it. It's not even the self-empowerment oversaturation or the unfriendly music. It's something to do with her image becoming bloated, boring and notably pretentious.

Well, Lady Gaga's status is built on being "original," so finding something similar to Madonna was an easy run for the media.
Adele doesn't bother anyone, doesn't dominate the media, so they don't really have a reason to target her in any way really. And, I hope that continues to be the case. She's a sweetheart.
Gaga is polarizing now, and has always been, so she naturally has people sniping her and discrediting the positives.

What will be remembered(in my mind):
- The horns
- Born This Way song/Album/Message
- Maybe Judas
- Gaga as Jo
BTW was created for its message, so if the message is remembered, then the album was successful.

I've talked to Nicole about this a lot.
I just can't really agree with it.
She broke out to adult radio and has gained musical credibility with a lot of people. People think she's a freak/weirdo, but they've always thought that.

Sounds like something Gaga would say if BTW completely flopped

This era, though it has set her back in a number of ways, it's going to put her ahead in the future. I guarantee you those people that heard the real "Gaga" on Howard Stern when she performed her amazing acoustics (and especially of TEOG and Hair), when Gaga puts out a whole new album, they're going to give it a shot.
Plus, this era has been about expanding her radio format power, and that's something she was lacking. Imagine if she goes back to making Bad Romance/Telephone era kind of stuff on Pop/Rhythmic + HAC/AC...if she makes the "comeback" that we expect that she will do. It's just going to make her even more cemented in Pop Culture in a way even her haters will be unable to deny.
I think ultimately, though this era has "hurt" her, it's going to be the album that cemented her place ini Pop Culture.
|
The pop audience will worship her again when she comeback with new album ~

I think it's that trolls certain members latch onto underperformers for dear life, like Marry the Night. These same members forget about all the other past success of the era & only criticize how it's been performing for the past month or so. Songs have done worse this year.

I think she should just release the 6th single in January. This era has been moving so fast. She needs to put EVERYTHING into Scheiße the next single.

She's only damaged her image to those were casual fans of hers in her previous eras, ergo her club dance-oriented monsters. Those kinds of fans can always be won back and knowing Gaga, creating a club hit is probably as simple as throwing up for ten minutes and writing it on paper and getting RedOne in the studio.
I think she's expanded her audience this era to include those who were dismissive of her previously. There are endless accounts of people who have just now found respect for Gaga - the public and her peers, alike.

She will release another if MTN flops Im sure, but I still think she should give it a chance on NYE.
Who knows what will happen after the holidays.

It's a more serious problem than that. It's just people getting bored of her, and her establishment as a truly niche artist.
There are two things about this era that absolutely let me know that there are some serious problems:
Her digital power. Everything about it. The reception of her videos is by far the scariest. I've beaten this to death, but it's incredibly scary that she can't garner more views than an Avril Lavigne video for a song that peaked at #99 in the US and charted almost nowhere in the world with any of her last 3 videos.
The performance of The Edge of Glory. Something here went absolutely, TERRIBLY wrong. I have no doubt that the music video and terrible American Idol performance contributed, but that song should have been a 5M seller in the US. It's completely feel good, universal, catchy unoffensive and endearing. It had all of the momentum in the world. It was a critical darling and got praise from everywhere, had an incredible debut, showed HUGE increases each time a commercial featuring it was aired on TV and in the radio world, DJs thought it would be her biggest hit before it was released as a single. The fact that it has barely topped 2M in sales in the United States is one of the scariest things that has happened all era for me.

I love how everyone wants her to go back to TF days but yoü & I both know the same people attacking her now would criticize her for going too commercial again.
All I want is more LoveGame, Starstruck & Paper Gangsta mixed with TFM/BTW.
Her dark songs absolutely destroy her light/fluffy ones.

I dont think that, but I am hoping it could launch it to the Top 20 and then from there snowball into more radio plays, etc etc.
The great part of this time of year is that single sales are fairly low, so it can rise on iTunes quickly after she performs.

I'm scared as hell that she's even talking about exploring the decay of the blonde popstar again. I feel like she could lose my standom if she retreads the topic.
