Ugh, of course that after a few days of no major Taylor dragfests she had to get back on tumblr. I mean, she's right, but still, i don't like to see her getting dragged
We are writing this to explain why we want our video's of the 1989 Tour back. We feel this deserves an explanation because Taylor has been and will continue to be one of the best musicians in touring and is creating ways for us to connect with her and her music. I respect the business and the truly ingenious mind that has created a legacy based on innovation and pushing the right boundaries.
I’m sure you are aware that Taylor will be sharing videos of her tour on twitter, which work for a short while and anyone who follows her knows this. I’m not sure you know that Taylor's management will not be allowing these to be up for longer than a hour, before completely removing them from the internet without any compensation for the up loaders, so that people can't watch her tour videos for free. We find it to be shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous management.
This is not about us. Thankfully we have all of her five albums and can support ourselves, by going to live shows. This is about the new fans or casual listeners that have just heard her first single or are not able to pay for its success. This is about the young fans who just got his or her first cut and thought that by watching the videos it would keep them out of debt. This is about the up loaders who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Taylor's management are pioneering in their field…but will not get the pleasure of his or her videos.
These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant children. These are the echoed sentiments of every fan in our social circles who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Taylor so much. We simply do not respect this particular call.
I realize that Taylor is working towards a goal of global domination. I think that is beautiful progress. We know how astronomically successful Taylor has been and we know that this incredible business has the money to let have the fans the low quality tour videos… even if it is free for the fans trying it out.
It takes a long time to see Taylor live, and it is unfair to ask anyone to be at all her concerts. We say this with love, reverence, and admiration for everything else Taylor has done. I hope that soon I can join her in the progression towards a model that seems fair to those who create the videos. I think this could be the platform that gets it right.
But I say to Taylor with all due respect, it’s not too late to change this policy and change the minds of those in the your management, for the fans who will be deeply and gravely affected by this. We don’t ask you for free tickets. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our videos so they can remove them a minute later.
