I don't think the averages will stay this low, I'd be very surprised if they did!
The entire first batch wasn't bad overall. There were a few entries that I enjoyed, and one entry in particular that snatched high scores (7+) from all of the judges!

Since nobody posted, I'll just edit this one. From what a few people have told me, it'd be better for me to just not use imagery for this song. I liked the way I used it myself, and I found it to make sense to the point where I could analyze every metaphor I used and say what I meant by it (which I think you should be able to do if you're using imagery), but I guess it gets lost on others? Well lemme just do what I did to go Top 10 last time and bluntly state everything.
As long as you're confident in your entry that should be what matters, especially if others liked it as well.

I wouldn't have this mindset. This round is purely for everyone dipping their feet into the water and the for the judges to get a feel of everyone's own personal standard. If you can create songs that are naturally cohesive with each other throughout the season then that's fantastic, but I wouldn't approach future themes and songs with the requirement that they need to have a similar tone to each other.
I definitely have themes for the songs I wrote each season but you also have to make sure to have diverse tones and moods in your songs. I write dark, introspective songs the best but I try to switch it up and write happy or hopeful songs as well. Always try to step out of your comfort zone and you could discover a new strength
