When I was younger, I used to have a diva voice - like I could blast out Celine and people loved it. I even went to like a Music Festival and I placed like top 5 or something. But then I fell out of choir and I stopped really training my voice at all and my like 4 octaves probably went down to like 2. I've managed to get it where I can most pop songs comfortably, but I really don't think it sounds anything like it used to when I was a kid.

People said I would regret not developing my voice during puberty - but I don't really. I don't think if I'd lost my voice, I'd have spent the time working on my writing skills (both songwriting and literary writing). Now I know I'm a solid songwriter and a really good storyteller.

Like anything above C4 for me is a strangled mess, I need to develop a mixed voice asap From like C4-F4 I'm basically missing that part of my range, too high for chest, too low for falsetto. My head voice/falsetto is on fleek though. I can get up to A5 with ease and hit Bb5s pretty well, even C6s on great days, and I have nice vibrato (I think).

Yeah, similarly I don't regret not doing tons of vocal training because I might not sound perfect but I sound good enough and I got to develop other skills. My best asset is musicality and it makes me a really good ensemble member and helps with stuff like syncopated rhythms etc. I'm still working on developing relative pitch, I think if I continue to practice it I could have it.

Red > 1989 > Fearless > Speak Now > Taylor Swift

is the only correct order.

And I disagree with lovesong's comment, she definitely only got a Metascore that high because she's a critics darling. 1989 deserves a score of like 60-65, not 76 or whatever it has. As Connor said, it's not a bad album, but it's not really that amazing and it's certainly not groundbreaking, it's just more Max Martin bops. If anything, I think Taylor's contributing to this slump in pop music that we're currently experiencing.

If she wins AOTY, it just goes to show how biased the committee is towards her.

G5 is really high by itself, too. I can't sing that without totally straining and sounding horrible and that would be my peak.

Mess can we not bring the debate here I will slay your existence. the 3 syllable way is obviously more used by 2 syllables is perfectly acceptable too

imo IKYWT is one of her worst songs. I say that because it's not a TS song: It's story-less, without detail, faceless and anonymous, something a Taylor Swift song should NEVER be. Any female singer could've executed that song to the same degree, there's no Taylor mark.

1989 is a quarter ephemeral, faceless, bubblegum pop courtesy of Max Martin (WTNY, AYHTDWS, SIO, HYGTG.), half flat productions and/or are boring and dynamic as mud (Blank Space, OOTW, Bad Blood, WD, This Love, I Know Places, Clean, and YIAL), and another quarter of actually well-written tracks (Style, IWYW, Wonderland, New Romantics). Even then, whoever was in charge of the master dropped the ball because almost all the uptempos on 1989 are loud as hell and nothing else.

Not really. I've been thinking about getting a vocal coach but I'm not really a singer, I just sing for fun. I just went up the notes on the piano and my comfort range (chest voice) was something like C2 - G5, but probably only two octaves were decent.

I stand by saying that 1989 is one of the worst pop albums recently released. Most music if I let it will take me somewhere, be it bliss or anger or sadness or what so have you, but the only track that ever did that for me was Shake It Off when it was first released and not so overplayed. And I really do mean most music, the majority of songs I've ever listened to.
