What is this 'hype' and 'comeback' some of you are talking about? It's not like she'll go 2x platinum in the US and 6x platinum WW if she releases R8 first? She needs more "selling" singles like Stay and Diamonds and promo. It doesn't matter which is first. /myopinion

R8 is the follow-up to Unapologetic, her 8th studio album, her comeback album.

The other one is a soundtrack for the movie HOME.

Big difference, and that's why it actually matters.

Unapologetic is her biggest week yet just cause she released Diamonds and performed Stay on SNL.

A Night is coming tho and the 300k is hers.

Plus HOME could only benefit her and expose her to new public which could buy R8 later if it's not hardcore urban. People will still buy Rihanna lead single if it's good, no matter what.

Soundtracks have been slaying the charts as lately even more than official albums.

And I think only the Navy consider R8 as a comeback. She's been in the public eye the whole time and two years between albums is pretty standard. The GP will only hype 'comebacks' like Justin, or BEP, or Gwen, which don't have albums for more than 5 years.
Or albums after big eras, like Lady Gaga's BTW.

It's actually a comeback because Rihanna usually releases 1 album every year. Everybody is saying the wait is too long, medias included, so yes it's gonna be a comeback.

My opinion is that HOME could only benefit her and her sales for R8.

Rihanna is coming off a 2 year break. Eveyone knows shes coming with a new album. Those who are here for her will buy it regardless so no she does not need a single to sell her album. That's just b.s

I don't mean "hype" like the GP is salivating for it, but "Rihanna's first album in two years!" is a great PR tagline. I don't want the media to use that label for HOME. Her team will have to be very specific when putting out statements, press releases, etc. and make it clear that his is a movie album not a Rihanna album. Considering how messy her team is, the situation is worrisome for me.

I'm also worried about people spending their time/energy/money on whichever album comes first. Especially with streaming, people will only spend their money on one project. Singles are a different story, but R8 needs to be the prominent album.

Also, I genuinely believe that she's gained fans during her break and I would hate for them to disappear because HOME is disappointing or not what they were hoping for. It's not a legit representation of her so I feel about it.

We are stans, we overanalyze and worry more than we need to. Even if the rollout is messy I know Rihanna will be fine. I just want things to go well, and with such uncertainty it's hard to feel confident
