That's because she moved to Jamaica, Queens when she was young.
And it's ironic you say that when the area known as Jamaica, Queens was
given the name literally around the same exact time as the Spanish
settled Jamaica. Only a 50-100 year difference in which the island was named and when the area known as Jamaica, Q (derived from Jameco) was named.
