Finally, probably one of my favorite updates on my list is here and what better start the top 20 is with the reigning pop princess, Britney Spears. The final single from the Femme Fatale album Criminal is one of the standout tracks from that record and this is why this is charting this high in my list. With this single, I see no flaws from the song up to the brilliant music video. I still have the sad feeling this one flopped so hard, but ignoring that case, Criminal is one of Britney’s best. The flute accompanied track is so flawless making it so different from her other singles. The music video proves to be one of Britney’s best and can be included to one of her iconic videos of all time. Her fiancé Jason Trawick co-star in this mini film playing as the hero/bad guy; they both fell in love, rob a grocery store and make out in the bed and showers. Indeed, a very steamy video. Britney definitely had a strong come back with the Femme Fatale era. I’ll be discussing more of her success in the following updates.

2009: The Fray “You Found Me“

Up next is one of the unusual collaborations of 2011 between pop-rock band Simple Plan and female pop singer Natasha Bedingfield for the hit single Jet Lag. At some point, I like both their music and this collaboration somehow worked for me. At first, I keep ignoring this song on the radios but after a couple of months, I gave this one a chance due to its irresistible beat and lyrics. Jet Lag talks about a couple being far away from each other, more specifically a time zone apart from each other. Simple Plan lead vocalist Pierre Bouvier and Natasha Bedingfield sing and ask each other how they are doing and how they miss each other in that place. This song is probably the only song I like from Get Your Heart On! Their other songs from that album are good but this one is the standout track. Hopefully, Simple Plan will release more experiment more on their sound in the future in order for them to gain back the momentum. Jet Lag is good example though.

When Price Tag came out, I like it and from then on the radios keep on playing this song each single day for a very long time. After a couple of weeks, this song became a phenomenal hit early last year. Price Tag is just a simple yet great pop tune. The lyrics and chorus of the song will really get stuck to your head for weeks. It has a good message where Jessie sings about making the world dance by forgetting about how much money we have. B.o.B even adds some verses on the final part of the song but Jessie still is the highlight of this one. Though it got overplayed here, it still managed to chart this high since this song is one of the best for 2011. Price Tag is Jessie J’s signature song so far and this one introduced her to the music scene. Currently, she has Domino as another smash hit to follow and it will be no surprise if you see her so high once again on my next year’s list.
