I never found the song terribly similar to La Isla Bonita (if that's what you're referring to). The video reeked of Madonna, but you can only win so many.

I still wonder sometimes if Dance in The Dark would have been a better single choice even if some people argued that it wasn't radio friendly. Still, it was such a masterpiece.

For me, it is all about delivery than repetitiveness. An artist could repeat the same line over and over 3 minutes and 30 seconds, but what is she/he saying? And how? I do not mind hear Gaga saying 'Ale Ale Ale Alejandro' a lot in the song ( do not get me started on the video )...but if I were to hear 'Boom, boom pow' for more than 10 seconds I'd probably end the world.

I never noticed that Gaga's songs are repetitive. yes technically she repeats a lot but it's never annoying like in songs where the only thing that's stuck in your head is "oh"

the only exception is Poker face - the ending is a joke !

You can really feel it in the 2nd half of TEOG:

-Chorus.

-Sax solo which includes some of the chorus.

-Back to chorus that won't end.

I also think Gaga screams a little too much on this album. Americano, which I like a lot, would have been so much better w/o her shouting.
