For one thing, don't talk to me like I'm some hater. I'm just saying that, in my area, the one thing I heard people talk the most about Gaga was the EY controversy. There's no need for a meltdown.

I still think it's weird how Japan basically worships the BTW era when even her fans outside Japan act like it was a failure.
But let's talk about quality. I've been thinking - was The Fame Monster really that much better than BTW? Just bear with me here - The Fame Monster is a brilliant collection of 6 flawless pop songs and 2 rather good songs. Sure BTW has more filler in some peoples' opinions, but what really is the measure of overall quality? An average, or a summation? Regardless, I've notice that even though I always say TFM is better, BTW actually accounts for more of my plays in the past year and a half than TF and TFM combined. Maybe, just maybe, even us fans don't give BTW enough credit?

The only flaw and I mean only flaw TFM era had was the M references in the Alejandro video. Other than that, the era was amazing. I can play the whole album without skipping a single song. Every live performance was watchable, every video was watchable from start to finish and was worth more than one viewing. The BTW era had a lot of cringe worthy performances, songs and videos. I mean that's the consensus between stans and non-stans. Let's be real.

Which would explain why BTW the album had 4 times less longevity, according to those numbers, than TF/TFM.

You need to get away from ATRL if you really believe that. The Express Yourself drama hardly got any attention here. The only people holding on to that straw are haters on ATRL + the person who claimed it was a rip-off of her song.
Gaga got a lot of international press this era, she helped get DADT repealed, she had meetings with Obama about homosexuality, he started to get informed and changed his opinion and now 12 states in the US are already allowing gay marriage. She became one of the most charitable and powerful people in the world, started the BTWFoundation, and tens of millions of people around the world love her. People claim the music sucked yet this tour did better than the Monster Ball on average and she broke several records on a WW scale. Born This Way has become iconic and is used in TV/film/music etc.
Need I go on?
Express Yourself who?

Those numbers are pretty construed tho.. The BTW era had issues, but it didnt go THAT horribly. Damn. lol

Kinda excited that Gaga performed with Brain Newman in NY right before the BTW era started, hopefully the other night was her following some sort of pre-era ritual
|
Maybe, but didn't she also perform in like September of 2010? Which was random

I would say BTW is better than TFM if she cut it down to like 11-12 songs to make it more consistent. Some of the tracks just aren't up to par quality-wise (mainly the deluxe 3 tracks) and others, while very good, feel out of place on the album (You and I).

But really, I can't be the only one who loves every video but TEOG and who can sit through the whole album start to finish and enjoy it. Perhaps it's a matter of subjectivity, but I think that the BTW era in general doesn't get what praise it might deserve. Yes TFM was more or less the perfect pop era, but I think that because of reactionary statements and actions by religious groups, terrorist organizations, and crazy haters, in addition to a bit of a commercial decline, even Gaga's fans view BTW more negatively than it deserves.

But I understand this was a personal album for her and she kind of got the freedom to do whatever she wanted to do for herself.

Im gonna start getting annoyed if we get nothing over these next few weeks tho... I know she wants time off, but how can she be able to perform at a hotel and not be able to perform a single? Like, really now... Really..

No, I didn't know who/what he was when I joined, but I've come to understand that Anthagio is a person who keeps coming back with dupes? I was already a member when he got exposed and banned earlier this year. This is my first time as a member on ATRL
Just like Gaga I'm not here for the messiness of fakers. Gaga kicked out Boomkack and ATRL kicked out Anthagio

Now imagine if the first three tracks of TFM and DITD had been on an album with "Heavy Metal Lover", "Scheisse", "Bloody Mary", "Judas", and "Government Hooker". And maybe "Marry the Night".
Would anyone have been able to compete?
If she ever releases a "Best of" sort of thing, all of those tracks need to be on there. All of them.

I mean the entire era obviously wasn't as great as the previous ones, but it's the album that I find very disappointing for Gaga's standards. TEOG, HML, Scheiße, MTN, Judas are great, and I enjoy BTW (song) too. The rest not so much. I'm really missing the super catchy songs she used to make, with the funny clever lyrics.
