One of the best albums I've ever heard. Can't get any songs out of my head! My favorites are Mrs Potato Head and Tag, You're It. Hoping it debuts in the top 5, she really deserves it.

But I'm glad you guys like the album & stan for her. I don't see the gimmick lasting long.

Yet, you're still in this thread trying hard with the nerve to say that when a certain someone in your sig...Actually, let me save myself the warning point.

ANYWAY, on topic:
I love this album. Mrs. Potatoe Head is probably my favorite lyrically, and Cry Baby, sonically.

Just got my physical copy. I thought it was going to be a digipak but it is really a little book with the CD in the back cover.

We don't know how much it will do. It can sell 20K, it could sell 40K...We just don't know. If she sells 20K a top 5 is on lock, I'd say. At this point, we might have top 10 on lock.

I'm so in love with this, the whole concept, the backstory. Damn The fact that they are all metaphores. Is Tag You're It about rape?

Why Electra Heart of all albums. They both have vague concepts (although this one is a bit more solid), but that's it.

I don't hear or see anything original in her. She has the sound of Lorde with the lyrics & imagery of Natalia Kills. Every song on this album sounds nearly the same. Moody synths & mid-tempo beats while she tries to sound lyrically edgy by dropping "f**k" in multiple choruses. It does come off as juvenile, but not in a complimentary way that has anything to do with the concept of her album.
She tries so hard to sound tortured, but she's only 20 years old, fresh from X Factor, & neck deep into Tumblr culture, so all I'm really getting is from her is Sad Emo Girl At The Mall On The Weekend Crying In Front of A Cinnabon For No Reason. I don't think that's what she was going for.
I think this is one of those albums where it's cool to like it from the age of 17-20, but then when you grow up a little bit more, you realize how embarrassing it all was. I wonder if she'll feel the same way.
I would willingly give her creativity points for the concept of her album, but I can't because the lyrics are the bland melodrama one would expect just by looking at her. It's obvious she came up with the song titles beforehand & tried to write songs around them. What's supposed to be edgy only comes off as boring, unfortunately.
Wishing her luck, though. I think she'll need it.

What's weird is I kinda agree with all these points, but I don't think that makes it a bad album.

A true reviewer takes the time to listen to the whole album. What song did you listen to?

I think he meant that theoretically you could just listen to one song and already know what the album sounds like
tbh that's true but that isn't a bad thing, it's just v cohesive

I absolutely agree with this review except with the age of her targeted audience. I think it's one of the worst albums I have heard in a long, long time. It just sounds so incredibly forced and without being disrespectful, her songs seem to target for an audience that is like between 12 and 17 who never were invited over to the neighbours house, so therefor they make up some faux dark & twisted fantsies. A soundtrack for the outcasts and loners.
There is hardly anything good to say about it besides that she can sing nicely, but that is all there is.
