She didn't pass on it since she was the one who wrote it. I think she didn't have time to record it in time for her album so it was given to Kelly.

I remember reading that she chose Dirrty over it because they were too similar. The producer/cowriter then pitched it for Kelly.

Me too! Also, I'm not getting some of the Stronger shade here all of a sudden. It had some AMAZING tracks ("You Love Me", "Dark Side", "The War Is Over", "Let Me Down", "Stonger", etc...). It was more Kelly through and through than AIEW and was a nice maturation for her (save for "Einstein" lol). It's great, and actually this seems like an even more mature evolution for her. Breakaway was great for the time in which it was released and is somewhat of a modern pop staple, but it's one of those albums that was very easy to burn out on. None of the songs really sound all that fresh anymore, although it obviously boasted some of her most memorable pop choruses.

I would love if this was a single, but if it flops Kelly would probably venture out of pop-rock again, especially in the world of dance/electronic music and that would make me livid.

Katy did not necessarily "pass" on IDNHU and "Long Shot." She wrote them and recorded them pre-debut, and they didn't make the cut, so they put them out for publishing since they weren't being used for her album.

It was the very first song I recorded for the album. I recorded it while on tour with Maroon 5, which was a couple of years ago. I loved the song. I got it from Greg [Kurstin], my producer, and he works a lot with Sia. Her project had just finished and he told me they wrote this song and wanted me to hear it. I fell in love with it! I just love the message. It’s about having that person in your life —or people in your life— who can be a shoulder to cry on, or if you want to bitch about something, or anything. So I love having those people in your life, and this song is for that person.
