DYLM isn't that great though. It's fun, and danceable, but it's a very skim-the-surface type of song, and 2NE1's singles are generally immersive. Like, even Falling in Love pulled you in cause it's weird af and it utilizes their voices to their strong suits. It's dynamic, it's adequately complex, no one else could pull it off. (Well they could try, but it would be weird. Picture 4minute singing FIL.)
Does Bom Love Tha Knife is more the direction we're used to hearing from them, but it's kind of unremarkable. The vocal parts are interchangeable, the production is bland, and though I don't totally agree with it, I understand the comment some people were making about the song "not going anywhere". On its own, yeah, it's a good song, but there's not a lot of identity in it and if you listen to it after listening to some of their other singles you'll get what I mean. It would've been an outstanding single for a group of a lower caliber than 2NE1 (early Sistar, anyone?) but because it's them it kind of falls flat.
All of that excludes the middle 8 and Dara's "rock n roll" line cause those slay.
