It was a flop on a worldwide scale, only achieving good peaks in a few countries and it had little longevity outside the US. It killed what momentum she did have and set the stage for an even bigger underperformance with the next single. Releasing a country-rock ballad in the middle of pure pop and dance music is not the best idea, at all. Had she released "Scheisse" or "Hair", or both in succession, she would have had more global hits and potentially better sales in the end.

Yeah, I was kind of "meh" when they announced it as a single, since I LOVE the song but was a little tired of her playing it since it was out for so long before BTW. But a lot of my friends told me they were really pleasantly surprised by the song and that they respected Gaga more for it.

Yes I agree, to some extent. Her label really wanted Y&I released just in the US and something else WW but Gaga refused. So that was one way they couldve made the era much better, but it's still a success nevertheless with Y&I gaining tremendous impact on the US which is one of the major countries she really needed to succeed in since she's losing audience there.

Yeah, I did. I was addicted to the game and I loved it, all the items It did ruin the album though, cuz I'd heard quite a number of songs before it's release because of that. I don't want promo singles etc, I want her to do 2 singles pre album and then drop it without any additional songs released

I was absolutely OBSESSED with FV for almost two years but that was actually right around the time I stopped playing haha. But of course I still went on just for her. IIRC there was a separate area for you to visit that was all Gaga-fied, with crystals and unicorns and all in various shades of purple. You could get some decorations for your farm and grow crystals as a crop (I actually just checked my FV for the first time in forever a few weeks ago and I still had some crystals planted ) and then there was that one morning where you logged on and MTN played I remember I went on just before I got on the bus that morning, heard MTN, and was sooo happy all day long.

BTW's iconic promo The whole FV thing was so weird/random. Though I remember there was a list of celebs going around a few years ago who were rumored to be FV addicts, and Gaga was on it. Maybe that's why she did it

I wonder what kind of weird promo they'll think of for ARTPOP.

I'm gonna try to not listen to any previews this time around. The last few albums from my faves, I've completely avoided iTunes/Amazons snippets that go up early, leaks, (Mugler remixes) etc. etc. It's SO much better/fulfilling to hear an album of all new material in one sitting on the release date.

I usually give in for promo/buzz singles, though.

Chart watching is no fun these days, I can't wait to go back to the days where I'd be constantly checking every iTunes and official chart for Gaga's singles' positions.

I still remember the day I came home and "Judas" was at #4 days before it was supposed to be released, I was so happy!

"Judas" still slays and I judge people who hate it for flopping in the US.
