It's not Taylor's best lead single, but I actually really like it and I'm excited for her new album! I'm not surprised it's the direction she went in, but I still really like it. Am I the only one that thinks she kind of ripped off of Adele by naming the album 1989 just because it was the year she was born? I feel like it had something to do with Adele naming her albums after her ages. I don't know, maybe that's just me.... Regardless, I like the song and I'm excited for new music from her!
And when did Gaga nominate Adele to do the ice bucket challenge? Has it been 24 hours? I really hope she does it!
Come on guys...Friday by Rebecca Black>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Shake it off!The song has no purpose,it's just useless.I really don't know what to think...
Well, at least she actually wrote it about something personal. One thing I love about both Taylor and Adele is they draw on real-life experiences for inspiration. I know most of the Daydreamers don't like Taylor, but I think the song is great and you have to applaud her for continuing to make music without stooping to the level of the other pop girls that use sex to sell their music. I love that Adele and Taylor Swift don't do that, and I think they're both great examples for not only aspiring musicians, but people in general, and regardless of the fact that some of Taylor's music may be "generic" or "mainstream", it's all quality music and she makes music because she loves it. Both she and Adele have a genuine appreciation for music and understand what it's really about, and I love that about them! I wish more artists had their mentality, to be honest.

I tried to understand Taylor many times, but I miserably failed. And I'm not talking about her (questionable) skills, but about her music. It's not mature at all, almost childish...
If we compare her to someone like Britney, well ,of course Taylor is the talented one.But that's still far from what Music should be.
But that's just my opinion!

I totally get what you're saying. Some of her music is not very mature, but if you listen to songs like "All Too Well" and "I Almost Do" from Red, they're absolutely incredible. I mean... She's one of the industry's most talented songwriters and I think she's a musical genius. Songs like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" are obviously very fun, pop songs that have little meaning to most people, but regardless, every one of her songs tells a story and you have to keep in mind that a lot of her fans are younger and like music like that. She has to please the fans, too. And she's obviously nowhere near Adele's level of talent or anyone like that, but she's a phenomenal songwriter and I think she's a great role model for aspiring musicians and anyone in general because she understands what music is truly about and chooses to approach it in an appropriate and relatable way rather than make trashy sex songs to make money like a lot of the other pop girls. I get what you're saying 100% and you brought up some great points, but I do think some people underestimate her talent and I don't think her singles are always the best representation of her artistry and her talent, but she usually picks great singles (not even gonna bring up the fact that she never released her flawless song "Enchanted") and she obviously knows what she's doing because she's one of the most successful artists in the world right now.

Successful yes, but I'm not seeing longevity. And if she is as talented and creative, etc as the gp seems to believe she is, then she definitely needs to find some maturity in her music... And if she has that, then she needs to believe in it and demand it be the side the industry shows of her or her success will be not carry on as she gets older imo.
