I’m trying to “read" and actually finish 50 Shades again…through audiobook. And I realize it’s basically Pride & Prejudice. She’s an ordinary/poor/not very pretty girl who’s got her head in the books and everyone tells her she needs a husband/bf. He’s disgustingly rich, handsome, cold and standoffish. He rubs her the wrong way…but she wants him to keep rubbing.
No wonder it has such mass appeal. It’s ripping off a dynamic that has endured for centuries!
