Just remember, you can't easily express a catchy melody through lyrics alone. This is a lyric competition, and lyrics will always be the focus. "I long for your sweet embrace" will always do better than "ooh ooh yeah baby I wanna get naughty tonight ooh ohh yeah (clap x3)".

I can only speak for myself but I'm not necessarily opposed to ratchetness if it's done well.

I would just say that I prefer songs that fully fit a theme and as long as you commit to the theme, the song should be solid (assuming the meter and rhyming are on point as well).

If a ratchet song is only semi-ratchet though, I'm likely to say that the song isn't fully realized as a song
