Refresh my memory on how many songs are released per year, and how many get certified 2X , 3X and 4X Platinum. Thanks in advance.

So what?
Katy sold 1.4 million , that's a good number for pop artists.
Adele sings another genre of music and has a different public.
If you are going to compare sales, you have to compare her to Ke$ha, Britney, Bruno Mars, Rihanna. She has sold as good as them and her singles has outsold theirs.

Umm, how about a good number of songs before the digital period that were based on airplay alone or songs that had no physical releases, or songs that are only platinum. I can't name any of the top of my head, cause I'm sure as hell not familiar with anyone's chart history beside Britney, Rihanna, or Beyonce.
I'm not about to do your homework, you want to prove his point, do it yourself. I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

Honey, you're asking the wrong person. And I don't see what that has to do with me thinking that Britney song (whatever its called) did around 3 million. I don't follow her LIKE THAT, nor do I plan to. I just thought her stanbase was bigger than that and the song sold more because of her name.

Ugh. Keep it cute, boo. I told you to name some and that could have been given a "no." It wasn't that serious.

You cant be serious? Sales do not equate to how well a song will be remembered.

How don't they? The best selling digital songs of all time are some of the most remembered of the last decade, the present, & so on. Think of all the 5/6-million sellers: I Gotta Feeling, Poker Face, Just Dance, Boom Boom Pow, Need You Now, Hey, Soul Sister, Tik Tok, soon-to-be Dynamite, etc. All easily more remembered than their lesser-selling competition. The songs that impact the hardest are going to sell more.

Boom Boom Pow, for example, is forgotten here.
