Katy Perry's 'Prism' Sales Grow, Fifth Harmony Set for Top 10
By Keith Caulfield, L.A. | October 25, 2013
On next week's Billboard 200 chart, Katy Perry's "Prism" seems destined for at No. 1 debut, as industry sources forecast the album to sell around 290,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Two days ago, the insiders had pegged the set to bow with around 270,000. Some are pointing to Walmart's recent TV commercials touting the album (starring Perry herself) as a catalyst for the growth.
There's a chance -- though small -- that the album could hit the 300,000 mark by the end of the week. We'll have Perry's official sales figure -- as tabulated by Nielsen SoundScan -- on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The rest of the new Billboard 200's top 10 will also be revealed that morning.
"Prism" will mark Perry's second No. 1 album, following her last release, 2010's "Teenage Dream." As noted on Wednesday, "Prism" should also log the year's largest sales week for a woman, and Perry's best week ever.
