Clarkson has a pretty good promotional gig this weekend, which may help boost the song to #1 next week: Clarkson is singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. This marks the first time in eight years that a singer has had a hit in the top 10 on the eve of singing the National Anthem at that biggest of all TV events. This last happened in 2004 when Beyonce was #5, on her way to #4, with "Me, Myself And I." It also happened in 1991, when Whitney Houston was #8, on her way to #1, with "All The Man That I Need."

It may be enough to get that #1, especially after she slays it.

as long as she can hold off Madonna or still keep her large gap from Adele if Madonna takes the #1 spot she'll have a very good chance

This is going to be a nailbiter next week. Hopefully Kelly's national anthem will get people to parade to iTunes and download Stronger.. it NEEDS to still be #1 on Sunday night so people immediately see it. Those six hours could give her the sales push she needs to get to #1. I think it will be tough to keep Madonna out of #1 though on iTunes MAN I wish Kelly had a performance on Ellen this week or something to help bump sales. Even though she's doing amazing it's just so tough to make up that airplay gap.

no, the airplay difference is 79 points acourding to Billboard. Kelly right now at 39M and Adele 118M. So if Adele stays around 0.7000 on itunes then Kelly would have to sell a around 262k. ill show my math work; 262 x 0.7 = 183, which basically means if Kelly sells around 262k then Adele would sell around 183k. Add both up and you get:

Kelly 39+262 = 301
Adele 118+183 = 301

this is assuming their airplay stays and equal 79 points apart. If Kelly can some hoe get bigger airplay updates and/or knock Adele down to 0.6500 then she has a very good chance at #1

^I hope it happens! It definitely will be a close week again. It's hard to predict sales though. I'm going to keep trying to track the Digital Sales Data numbers every 24 hours but they appear to be really random.
