Gen IV wouldn't be Gen IV without the inclusion of Heart Gold & Soul Silver. Argued to be the best games of the entire series, HG&SS brought together all the elements of every Pokemon game released until its time and added some more of its own. The popular Johto region was revisited and given a graphical update as well as expanded a bit.
Areas like the Pokethalon, the Battle Frontier & the New Safari Zone were brought over to the game. As well as a new system of re-battling Gym Leaders. Honestly, one of the best side quest in the entire series was looking for each of the Gym Leaders and getting their phone numbers was amazing. Given them each their own personality.
Like Ericka being a shady hoe behind the scenes (my favorite interaction). The games brought the popular and often requested feature that has Pokemon Follow you on your journey. Literally, every Pokemon can follow behind you!
HG/SS is a beautiful game and one of the best that Gamefreak has to offer. Morimoto needs to Direct another game in the series because he really hit this one out of the park!
