The first single from last year's "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" re-release, "Part of Me" allowed Perry to purge herself of lingering emotion following a painful breakup, and defiantly reclaim her independence. After "Teenage Dream" produced five No. 1 singles, "Part of Me" added yet another to the singer's resume.

"The One That Got Away" lived up to its name on the Hot 100 chart -- after releasing five No. 1 singles from "Teenage Dream" and watching them all streak to the top of the chart, Perry guided the album's sixth single to a tantalizing No. 3 peak before it sadly fell back down the tally. Still, "One" proved to be another monster hit for the singer, sporting a more wistful shade when compared to her other "Teenage Dream" fare.

Perry's most recent hit, "Wide Awake" almost joined its predecessor "Part of Me" as a No. 1 hit from "Complete Confection" but tapped out in the runner-up spot. Produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut and debuted at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, "Wide Awake" is a soaring, contemplative ode to falling away from romance and finding the clarity and strength to soldier on.

Pink flamingos! Maxed-out credit cards! Skinny dipping! Last Friday night was particularly crazy for Katy, and "Last Friday Night" was another smash, serving as the single that let "Teenage Dream" tie "Bad's" record of five No. 1 singles. The song's music video featured cameos by Darren Criss, Rebecca Black and Kenny G (among others), and a remix of the track added a verse by Missy Elliott.

If "California Gurls" was the single that cemented Perry as a hitmaker ahead of her second album release, "Teenage Dream's" title track demonstrated the pop star's versatility. With a slower tempo and more thoughtful lyrics about the joy of carefree love, "Teenage Dream" was a change-up that earned critical raves and another avalanche of radio success.

For those who thought Perry would be a one-hit wonder and fade into obscurity following "I Kissed a Girl," "Hot N Cold" was a decisive blow to their dismissive theories. Not many pop performers would use the line "You PMS like a bitch I would know" in the opening verse of a hook-filled anthem, but then again, not many pop performers take Katy Perry's risks.

"I Kissed a Girl" was both the 2008 Song of the Summer and the official arrival of Perry as a solo artist, bringing its bi-curious electro-pop to the top of the Hot 100 tally for seven weeks in 2008. "One Of The Boys," Perry's debut solo album, would go on to sell 1.5 million copies after "I Kissed a Girl's" introduction, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"One Of The Boys" helped make Perry a household name, and for the first single for the follow-up album, the singer had to make a splash. The third single (and third No. 1) from "Teenage Dream" was a collaboration with production duo Stargate that allowed Perry project her lyrical power outward and inspire her millions of KatyCats.
