I wonder what it was about the 90s that made people go out and buy albums like hot cakes. It kinda happened in the 70s and 80s too, tbh, but it feels so much more pronounced here than anywhere else.
Probably because it was the only way to consume music other than radio or vinyl players. Picking up a tiny jewel case compared to picking up a larger vinyl case was probably seen as revolutionary in terms of convenience back then.
