She has an incredible range, but her most comfortable part of her voice lays exactly where a low Mezzo would. She's not a soprano, at all. Nothing about her texture, colour, timbre, tone, etc. is even close to a soprano.

Most vocalists start off in choir at school or church.

You are placed between alto and soprano (most women anyway) thats what I meant.

Mariah is old school.
