I agree about ester and L&L. from what I know of her, she doesn't seem like someone who writes profound music with depth. But I only know her Pop sex stuff written for other pop stars. I wonder how the collaboration between the two came about and why.
Long & Lost is so serious and profound though. It's kinda untypical for Dean. But that lyrics, OMG.

@Barbz - Yes. The chorus of Various Storms & Saints is very intense and her singing is so powerful. She's singing about how she has to be strong and that better days will come - she has to survive the heartbreak somehow. Listening to her voice you can hear that there is a light at the end of the tunnel but the song is so sad and heartbreaking. Not sure if she would feel fine to perform this one live without getting too emotional and crying. It was obiously written at a very difficult point of her life.
And the chorus of Caught is very nice and choral. It's more like a calm and a peaceful classic ballad. It's the most forgettable one in the album though (for me).

Her ballads for Nicki and Rih are pretty good and her new song, Crazy Youngsters, for the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack is a nice slice of euphoric pop. I actually think with Ester's ability to create a good ear worm hook and Florence's lyrical talent it could be a really fantastic collaboration.

Awesome love how you describe things! I was hoping for some choraly songs with choirs of people, gospel almost. I could've seen flo going that route, but oh well
So I've had the chance to listen to some of this album (before you ask, I have label connections and stuff like that). Queen Of Peace is brilliant, Delilah gives me the up-tempo Ceremonials feels, Various and Long & Lost are very sad, Mother has rock-y vibes and killer_rose's descriptions are spot on I don't have much to add to that. Overall, it's a solid album but nothing like the previous records so, some will love it, some won't.
