The chorus is amazing. It's how I imagined TEOG would sound before it came out. The verses (especially the 1st) need work but they're pretty good. All it needs is to be more cleaned up and refined (I agree that parts of it have too much going on) and it would totally blow me away. I kind of think 'Behind the Aura' is a better title but that's just me

Behind the Aura would be perfect. The intro only makes sense if the video is in fact the telephone continuation because otherwise it's completely dumb Also the chanting in the beginning is what really throws the song off.
I also love how she uses her falsetto voice. It gives a slight touch of vulnerability/depth that really works with the song
Her voice is what I love the most about it all. I wonder if we'll see more if this vulnerability on relatively slower ARTPOP tracks. Imagine Gaga dabbling a bit into chill-out.

You stan for Gaga and complain about verses/bridge not making complete sense to the rest of the song? MTN is essentially a bunch of random things smashed into one song, that bridge has nothing to do with the rest of the song. Same with DITD where the bridge really changes the songs message. Heavy Metal Lover is similar but its also hard to tell whay she's saying half the time
Anyway my interpretation of the intro is she's killing her former self.
I like the song because to me it's like what a song on Born This Way should have been.
On BTW she tried to have more serious lyrics, but it came across as preachy and kind of a bummer.
This song (whatever it's called) has the same type of lyrics, but the lyrics as well as the song are both more fun, the seriousness doesn't outweigh the fun side
