I wouldn't mind if she had songs like Miscommunication on her new album. The Pop/R&B sound probably works best for her, but Miscommunication was so hot. I know that was the track that got a lot of people interested in Keri.
yep hopefully her next album is a different sound from IAPW and NBA
so playboy.. you''ve said you pronosticated monica's success... wich success? xD
she used to had success back in the day, i just remember the boy is mine with brandy, but hell, i am not a music guru, and actually i'm not american, so i don't know how things are going there.. but if you ask someone in spain about brandy and monica, i can swear you that maybe only 10% remember monica as the parter singer of brandy on that old song.. brandy was at moesha, so well, she maybe is not huge at music.. but EVERYBODY knows her xD

I'm not talking about the 90's or even the international market. I live in America and in the PRESENT. I'm referring to Human being an epic failure which I predicted to everyone's chagrin and Still Standing being the vehicle to bring Monica back into the game. Still Standing sold more in 1st week sales and overall sales than Fantasia & Jennifer Hudson's last albums. Still Standing's singles were more successful that Alicia Keys' singles from Element of Freedom. Monica was Grammy nominated twice and nominated at the Billboard Awards.

It kinda died cuz' of the crazy updates it had 2 weeks ago but no it's becoming stable again, it gained like 25 spins today and 0.100 AI
Hunny, I been on the internet since 2004 and I have watched the game closely so I can pretty much tell you who will be huge and who will not be. R&B is my genre that I specialize in. I have determined ever success (Monica, Melanie Fiona, Jazmine Sullivan) and flop (Brandy, LeToya, Ashanti) here on ATRL since at least 2007 so I'm very confident when I make my analysis. Rihanna represents the girl of today, she embodies our generation's style, attitude and beliefs which greatly benefits her success. Her voice is unique and she is the perfect puppet for a producer to put out their hottest new sound on. She is willing to do anything to be popular and be #1.
Keri is NOT a pop star and she doesn't want to be liked by everybody. She wants to be true to Keri and when artists decide that then that automatically cuts half of your fanbase. Most people support an artist because they make catchy, likeable music while only a quarter will support you because they believe in your talent. Keri is still struggling to find her niche in the game and truly standing out in the crowd. Until she finds her lane that no one else can compete with her in then she will not be a major player. Its not shade at all just the truth based on so many "Keris" that have come before her. Keri Hilson is really similar to Kelly Rowland and Nicole Scherzinger.
Keri had promo out the ass for Pretty Girl Rock, hell her promo was on par with Alicia Keys and we all know that Keri doesn't match Alicia's popularity nor her success so lets not act like the label hasn't supported her because they have. She just has been writing checks that her ass can't cash unfortunately.
I really used to think that you just don't like Keri and so you call her a flop etc, but you made some good points in the post above. I agree with you that Keri is similar to Kelly and Nicole in potentional succes they are able to get, but there's a big difference between them for me. It's the fact that Kelly and Nicole actually try to make likeable music instead of being true to themselves IMHO.
I don't think people portrait Keri as the next Rihanna, Alicia Keys or so. They just believe that her music is good enough to generate some number 1 songs. And you know, when you won't sell, you won't be allowed to make more music. This is probably what we, Keri's fans, are afraid of.
The 28-year-old singer is planning to shoot two more videos off her latest album No Boys Allowed before releasing her third album.
“After ‘Lose Control,’ I’d love to release ‘All the Boys,’ ‘Buyou,’ ‘Beautiful Mistake’… ‘Hustler,’” she told Billboard. “We just have to narrow it down and shoot a video for the one we think people will love.

I agree with Meril. You have some very good points. What I have read is that you are good at predicting the careers of R&B girls, but that still isn't foretelling. You can not logically be 100% sure like that.
I agree that she is not driven to be likable to everyone and not another puppet and that she is having trouble finding her own lane. She does her thing, but it happens to overlap with other artists. I sometimes wish she would semi-sell out on her singles (and ONLY her singles - like Lose Control) so she can still release her good songs on albums.
As for PGR, that was a weak to moderate single. I agree she had major promo, but I was surprised it even reached top 40, let alone 24. I don't pretend she hasn't had promo. If you are bored enough to look at my past posts, you will see I have said she has been overpromoting PGR. Even now she is getting another single when the label should really be closing the era. You know, I enjoyed reading your post because you took the time to explain instead of stating an opinion as fact without backing it up.
