There's not going to be an explanation of that Red Devil at the end.
It's just a jump scare like at the end of all horror movies-- but it's a TERRIBLE ending for a TV show, which alone makes the finale a tragedy.
Right, because the explaination is right in front of our eyes.
Hester did say ''And tonight it all ends'' in the finale which pretty much confirmes that she planned on killing Chanel,
which she did the following night.

The bitch did not sneak into an insane asylum after she already said she was perfectly content with what happened. She said people deserved to be punished more than killed; and to her, that punishment was putting the Chanels in the asylum.
You're not gonna find out "Oh! It was HESTER coming back to KILL THEM!" because there is no explanation. It's just a jump-scare.
Chanel is not dead, why would Hester still want to kill her, she got what she wanted.

Chanel was most likely dreaming or something. I assume that they are eventually going to get out because they are rich and their fathers got them out some how. But, they have to do a summer camp or something.

then what did she mean with what was ending that night?
then what did she mean with what was ending that night?
Her plan was over. The Chanels were in the asylum. Everything was finished.
You're choosing to nitpick over lines that hold no meaning in this show NOW? When it's all OVER?
You mean to tell me she made a whole plan to get the Chanels thrown in the asylum (and stated that that was her goal from the get-go), only to sneak in & kill them when she had ample opportunity to kill them for 13 episodes?
Her plan apparently wasn't over when she still wanted to end something that night, straight out of her mouth. The same night the devil appeared to Chanel.
This show is crazy, stupid and it has no sense. It's not too far-fetched that she would try to kill Chanel still.
But yeah, let's assume there was NOBODY behind the red devil mask because that makes so much more sense.
Chanel is dead. Ryan killed Emma off for another time. Embrace it. Accept it. Get over it.
It's not that I think there was literally no one behind the Red Devil costume. It's just that it's not a valid plot point.
We aren't supposed to sit here wonder "OMG did Hester come back?!" And, as you said, STRAIGHT OUT OF HER MOUTH, she said that her plan was just to have the Chanels put in the asylum because they deserved to be punished, not killed. Why would you take some vague, ambiguous statement over an explicity-explained one?
It's just a jump scare at the end that has absolutely no logic or reason behind it. Look at other horror movies. A Nightmare on Elm Street. I Know What You Did Last Summer. The killer comes back at the end for a jump scare & everything ends up alright anyway.
Her fate was left ambiguous as a part of that.
I don't know what's so difficult to grasp about that.
i agree with C/H/A/... about there being no need for a second season really. Even though I'd welcome it under certain circumstances, I also kind of love the idea of the show being a one season cult mini series.
I'm definitely buying the Blu Ray to add to my horror collection. As many faults as the shows has, the rewatch ability factor is insane.
Fox probably hasn't even decided yet. I assume they are gonna wait until upfronts to see what shows they think could potentially replace their flops this year, but if nothing seems adequate, SQ will probably be given a last shot solely cuz of Ryan's relationship with Fox. Season 2 would probably have a smaller budget tho and would possibly be relegated to either a mid season replacement or a Friday night slot.
Ps I really really hope the Blu Ray has cast commentaries!
sdgsdg at the Hester killed Chanel in the Asylum argument above.
Why would Hester go through the trouble of PUTTING Chanel in the asylum to only go back and kill her? Especially when she had MULTIPLE opportunities to kill Chanel throughout the series
Like that's the craziest **** I've ever heard and I had to witness Repo talking pure trash in circles in this thread.
I just love this show so much and keep saying those iconic lines in real life with my friend.
"add ****s, *****s, idiot hookers in the sentences"
"thanks for making that annoucement no one care about"
"Thanks for making this moment all about you"
"when did you go to Mexico"
sometimes i order the coffee like Chanel, hopefully nobody film it and post it on youtube
"this is my heartfelt comment to all of you, you can all suck it"
