When word got out Saturday of an elaborate set-up for an unannounced Britney-hosted event under a tent at Las Vegas luxury condo complex Turnberry Place, speculation began mounting that the pair had their much-anticipated wedding.
The twittersphere lit up with the wedding buzz after*Alicia Jacobs, a local entertainment reporter and star of TLC’s Vegas High Rollers, tweeted, “Sources telling me the big “Top Secret”*@BritneySpears*event happening at Karen & Paradise Roads! Stay tuned!!!”
She then confirmed the event, tweeting,*”@BritneySpears event at Turnberry Place…a giant tent & ferris wheel in parking lot! So, who’s the host w/ the absolute most??”
Alicia added that 60 local performers were hired for the event, and that staff who worked on the event were required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
And when asked by a Twitter follower if the event was a “decoy” for a wedding, Alicia responded, “Checking on wedding rumors now!”
A wedding doesn’t sound too far-fetched, if an Oct. 22 report from the U.K.’s Mirror is accurate, which claims the wedding was slated to happen “within weeks.”
“[Britney] has put a treadmill into her X Factor* dressing room and is making sure she’s *jogging as often as she can,” a source told the newspaper. “She’s taking her look *incredibly seriously and has said she will *dazzle with her outfits and her body on the live finals of X *Factor. It’s very much a countdown to the nuptials right now… we’re *talking within weeks.”
Britney also is no stranger to Las Vegas nuptials: She married childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas in January 2004 — but famously ended the marriage 55 hours later.
