After rewatching the full season, I really wish they had paid more attention to the plot. The writing on the shows excels with the dialogue and humor, which ultimately carries it, but the callous plot holes and lack of character development is the issue. I hated how Chanel kept having these moments of redemption only to revert back to herself. While I love Chanel regardless and am glad she stayed true to herself, it just made for a bunch of pointless scenes. And Grace and Zayday ending up so pointless makes their scenes so unwatchable.

Like I said tho, the humor still holds up and gives it so much rewatch ability. The problem is, Ryan made it very clear you can't really hold stake in anything the characters do or say because they're so inconsistent. I'm essentially only watching for the scenes with the Chanels (and Denise). Which is why I feel a season two without them is pointless.

Just finished the (disappointing) season finale and IA with all of this.

As much as I'd miss the show, part of me agrees.

I just don't know where they plan to go given the way the finale ended. It felt very much like a series finale imo, and maybe it should stay that way. Unless Ryan changed his mind and is starting season 2 from scratch completely, I just don't see where they would go with the characters.

I definitely don't want another season without the Chanels because quite honestly, them and Denise (and I guess Chad) were the only saving graces (no pun intended) of the show.

The Chanels would be the only thing I'm 100% interested in seeing again and that's coming from someone who thought they would be distracting before the premiere.

Let FX get this or kill it off.

What really concerns me is that Ryan said next season will be inspired by a different thing; this season was inspired by Heathers, and that's where the Chanels came from, so if next season has a focus on a different group, they can kiss their viewers goodbye for GOOD.

I still feel like the finale felt like a series finale instead of a season finale though.

The only way I could see it working is if the season 2 premiere kicks off with Chanel being attacked by RD but escaping and realizing she is no longer safe in the asylum and convinces the other girls they need to escape.

However, in order to lay low and not get caught as fugitives, they stumble upon a summer camp and pretend to be camp counselors. Only to then realize the camp is haunted by a Jason Voorhees type. Chanel can't leave cuz both the cops and another RD are after her so instead she tries to save the camp from the killer in an effort to redeem herself in the law's eyes.

I'm not convinced. The ending was obviously supposed to be the typical "did they or didn't they die?" trope a lot of horror movies end on. Reminds me of the ending of IKWYDLS.


And why would Hester even bother? She seemed pretty content the way things ended as it was.
