You guys, I want to make this VERY clear about Dark Side's sales in the UK
Yes, it's doing well on radio and the single is still in the 30s and 40s on iTunes, but the reason for that is that Dark Side is selling the album, and not just the single. Before the release of DS, the album sales were much poorer than in the US, I remember the album was always somewhere between 125-175 on the iTunes top 200. Now, it's at #40 and is holding steady. The promo she did helped of course, but it doesn't look like its dropping off anywhere anytime soon, so I'm sure DS is contributing to those numbers too.
This is a good thing cause we need those international sales, but it's a bit annoying because I want Dark Side to have a high peak.
Let me do this, is it every Kelly song or just singles?
Every Kelly song from all five albums. Thanks for joining!
ALL-TIME KELLY CLARKSON
PLAY COUNT RANKING
WHAT TO INCLUDE:
As the "all-time" would suggest, be sure that every song off Kelly's five albums has a play count associated with it when results are sent in. (Those songs without a count will simply not receive points from you.) If you'd like, including plays from EPs, remixes, and the like is perfectly fine—that one is completely up to you.
SCORING METHODOLOGY:
In an effort to eliminate factors (for example, the age of an album, newer computers, reset counts, etc.) that might tamper with an accurate ranking of all Kelly's songs, a specific scoring methodology will be employed. For every participant, each album will be given an equal weight (1 point) and its point will then be distributed among the album's songs according to the percentage of total album plays the given song has. For example:
Person A:
Stronger = 1596 plays
Mr. Know It All = 145 plays
What Doesn't Kill You = 223 plays
This means Person A contributes approximately .0909 points to the overall score for Mr. Know It All and .1397 points for Stronger (WDKY). Each album for every person will be calculated in precisely the same fashion, and subsequently all points for each song will be added together (so, the points from Persons A, B, C, etc., for Since U Been Gone will be compiled). Thus, a list ranking the plays for all of Kelly's five albums will be created whilst minimizing factors that could negatively influence the results.
DATES:
Either typed out or captured in a screen shot, play counts must be sent via personal message to Mr. Know It All by Friday, 8 June 2012 (preferably), which allow results to be presented over the course of the following week. I will allow a slight extension for those slower members of the base (), but results shall proceed the next Monday regardless.
I might alter these dates slightly as needed (this includes moving them both earlier and later), but the following stand for now:
01 June 2012 - Sign up begins. 05 June 2012 - Begin sending play counts. 08 June 2012 - Play counts due. 10 June 2012 - Last chance for late plays. 15 June 2012 - Very large extension. 16 June 2012 - First batch of results presented.
Childee, you must be out of your mind. Sober is actually in my 25 most played but if you think my two/three thousand+ plays of MLWSWY, WDKY and SUBG won't affect the ratings, you are delusional.
Then send in your counts! Because those other songs aren't on My December, you could actually give Sober the bump it needs to go Top 10 (because right now it's easily Top 20 ).
SPOILER: Stronger (the song) might *not* be Number One, depending on the last few results to come in.
Yes, send the list! Your plays could shake up the results further.
*sigh*
I guess I'll send it in tonight when I get home from work...I need to get the songs from MD kicked out of the top 10...or at least one of them and get a song from Breakaway to be #1.

But doesn't the sale of an album also go towards the current single? I remember all the confusing talk about this during MKIA and WDKY but I still don't get it.

And truth be told, I'd rather have the single sell more than the album at least for right now. The album won't break any new records so the single might as well sell now and the album can get the slow slaes over time.

Ditto. The album's done pretty well already, I need the single to smash.
