Lady Gaga wasn't first, but she is the first of her kind in the current age of music. Her work ethic and talent is unparalleled.
No one has managed to debut and dominate like she did, and still does to some extent. She has legions of fans like Elvis Presley had, love and devotion to change the world like Michael Jackson, and the courage and creative thrive like Madonna.
It's just unfortunate that some people are missing out because they allow Billboard to dictate what's hot and what's not.
If people want to waste 5 years of their lives supporting hot artists that don't care half as much about music, then so be it.
Kim K is more talented than Gaga. Their main objective is the same: get attention, be famous. Gaga even gave that embarrassing “Sociology of Fame” interview. Kim mastered the art of fame and surpassed Gaga at the one thing that matters most to Gaga.
On a more serious note, you raise an interesting point about getting attention: it doesn't require talent. All the more reason why sewer rat is a talentless hack.
