The album is not coming in January. If it was, we'd have more info on it right now.
The current plan might be to let IUTLY peak (until February I guess) and then announce the album and launch the second single along with the album pre-order, which is a good plan.
At the end of the day, Gwen got herself a moderate hit (which might become a big hit in the coming weeks) and will undeniably deliver a great pop album and that's all anyone could want. Any extra success is a bonus.
And the song is holding well on iTunes and it's even in the top 200 on streaming, which is the most hostile platform towards slightly older artists. She has no reason to move on to another single right now.
