I heard that it was too, which made it more realistic and scarier too me. Glad to know we share the same tea

There was but it was written out during rewrites. During Laurie/Keri's class, one of her student's is giving a report on the periodic Halloween murders in Haddinfield. She mentions how Laurie died in a car accident, causing her daughter, Jamie, to be placed in foster care with the Carruthers. She then goes to say how Michael eventually killed her. If I remember correctly, Laurie/Keri goes into a bathroom stall afterwards and cries while thinking about her student mentioning Michael murdering her daughter in their report.
The reason it was cut is because it would've complicated things since H20 was being treated as a direct sequel to Halloween 2. There would've been so many loose ends to tie up, like the Thorn cult. They wouldn't have been able mention Jamie and ignore everything that happened in Halloween 6.
|
I totally forgot about that! I didn't know all of those details, though. But you're right, it was probably a good thing that they didn't mention it, because the Halloween storyline was all over the place at that point. Even though I love it, Halloween 6 was a mess. I'm very into the curse of thorn and the cult, but it just made the movie ridiculous. And I'm still bitter that Danielle Harris didn't play Jamie, all because of a few dollars.

The new Halloween movie was ditched for the Hellraiser remake that never happened.

Oh yea, I remember that. I'm still pressed at the fact that H3 might not see the light of day. I even liked Scout Taylor Compton. I thought she played a good Laurie Strode.

I sympathize. I watched the Boogey Man when I was like 6 and it scarred me for life. I never watch horror movies anymore.

Me too, even though it'll probably be a mess.
My issue with the remakes is how violent they are. I'm all for bloody, gory horror films, but that's not what Halloween was originally about. John Carpenter was all about lighting and music. Michael Myers (in the remake) is too big and brutal. Like, stomping somebody's face in? Michael would never, could never. He was always about weapons.

I didn't know that thanks for the info! I love knowing stuff like this. Yeah to many lose ends would be needed to tie up in a short amount of time if they wanted to connect them

I know I googled those and it happened 4 hours away from me, that's close in Nevada distance so it makes it scarier

They have, even if some of them are ridiculous. But at least they haven't involved magic or cults.

If they would have dedicated more time to redeveloping Laurie Strode's character in H20, and less time on John and his girlfriend, they could have referenced the storyline in 4-6. But it might have been too ridiculous at that point, trying to explain a faked death, murdered child, missing grandchild and a cult.

ANOES 3: Dream Warriors slays lives.
They had powers in their dreams, but Freddy took out most of them, his original nemesis sacrificing herself. Anyway, it was a different take on what horror was at the time. Everyone was focused on killers in suburbs, the woods, and ones who only come out on holidays (after Halloween opened the door). No one was really dealing with psychological terror on the level that ANOES was, save for Dreamscape whose creators stole ideas out of the original script to the first ANOES street film before it was made.
