I was expecting Prince Johnny to be Annie's highest, but y'all came through.
Initially recieved coldly, this song went on to become Annie's most acclaimed song to date: and rightly so. This funky pop jam talks about technology's influence on millennials in a tongue in cheek way only Annie could pull off. Outstanding lyrics and real bop too.
Is there any doubting that Two Weeks WAS 2014? It received more acclaim than any other song in this rate, and is widely regarded as one of the best female songs of the decade, only behind the iconic Video Games. It became twigs's first song to chart anywhere at ...200 in the UK and managed to convince most anyone who wasn't hooked by songs like Water Me and Papi Pacify that twigs wasn't just some flavor-of-the-month Pitchfork act, but a talented artist releasing outstanding music.
It is an obvious winner, but does that make it any less deserving? I don't think so. There are other songs on LP1 that have better production, better lyrics, better vocals, but there's something about this song. A true masterpiece and the perfect winner.
