Also, I'm surprised something as abrasive as “Moaning Lisa Smile” smashed the U.S. Alternative radios, considering how weak their selection usually is
Honestly, Alt radio tends to get it right more often than it gets credit for. Right now, there's some pretty damn songs in or around the top 10. But yeah, one only needs to look at #1 and lament the state of the format right now.
I do not need to "lament" Courtney Barnett and Wolf Alice. I like both of them.
Nice new artist selection! Half people I need to look into and the other half I like. I don't like Alessia but that's just cause of Here and I haven't listened to her album.
Shamir, Courtney, Fetty, and Y&Y are the ones that I think are pretty good.

It's loud, it's cacophonous, it's just really ****ing noise-y, it's probably what every Girl Band track sounds like - but there's something even weirder about this one... I can't really figure out what, but it is.
Genre: Art Pop, Ambient Pop, Drone
Country: USA // Label: Thrill Jockey
A very dark, dense track with a beautiful, but kinda NSFW music video. It's intriguing.
I've seen both of these acts live this year. The ChemBros were fine I guess (but a 2-hour Techno set, IS kinda tiring), but St. Vincent slayed me! And so does this song, which is a bit unrelated, but y'know. Whatever.
Genre: Art Pop, Psychedelic Pop, Pop Reggae
Country: Canada // Label: 4AD
At first I must admit I wasn't really into this song. But after a few more listens I found it really catchy and fun!... Which is a way of like, disguising the message the song is trying to transmit, which is kinda depressing. But that's one of the reasons of why I like it.
Genre: Art Pop, Trip Hop, Spoken Word
Country: Norway // Label: Sacred Bones
Now, talk about someone's music being "arousing and confusing"! This is really like Portishead if they were reaaaaally into traumatizing people. More than usual, anyway. I like it tho!
Genre: Electropop, Art Pop, Synthpop
Country: USA // Label: Interscope
The ending tho. >>>>>>>>>>> Tell me, WHEN will any of those H*lsey, M*lanie girls? She's obviously above them.
Genre: Neo-Psychedelia, Psychedelic Pop, Indietronica
Country: USA // Label: Domino
There are just so many things going on in this song, in a good way, though! Panda Bear is definitely super talented, and the video is adorable too!
Genre: Experimental Rock, Synth Punk, Atmospheric Black Metal
Country: USA // Label: Thrill Jockey
Yeah, I don't know... I like... whatever's going on here. It's kinda catchy, though.
Genre: Art Pop, Glitch Pop, IDM
Country: USA // Label: 4AD
This is really the worst song on her album IMO, and she made a video for it. Still, when the worst song on your album is something as good as this, you know your album is truly great... hint, hint!
Genre: Ambient Pop, Art Pop, Chamber Pop
Country: UK // Label: XL
Very sweet, very beautiful. I was kinda dissapointed by his album, although it had some great song like "Manner of Words", or "Turn Away". Or this.
Genre: Synthpop, Downtempo, Electropop
Country: UK // Label: Sony
This is a very sweet Electropop track that reminds me of iamamiwhoami in many ways. Including the video, maybe. The girl's music is so underrated!
I never really thought I would like a Justin Bieber track as much as I love this, but I do! This is way better than What Do You Mean, btw. Also, shout out to the Rustie remix, which is even better.
This is so loud, but dance-able. Like the first TR/ST album if you took out the vocals and added a bit more power to it. Video is interesting too. PS: Can't wait for a new F**k Buttons album.
Genre: Alternative R&B, Electropop, UK Bass
Country: Barbados // Label: Roc Nation
The fact that this queen made a song as weird as this, is impressive. Even more impressive is the fact that someone like Alex Da Kid produced it. The lyrics are a bit... eh... corny? but you know, the immigrant-positive message is powerful. And it is quite better than that other song about a "new America" if you know what I mean. ANTI WHEN.
another great set!
boys latin, sabbath and damn the valley
just checked this liturgy song and i liked it, guess i have to check aesthetica and the art work now
imo morning sun is the best song on platform i should have included it or platform on my lists
Catastrophe, Boys Latin, Damn That Valley, Under Neon Lights, aaaannnd tbh American Oxygen! The last one definitely had bleh lyrics, but idk, its kind of not bad. I'll be sure to check out the rest.
