Okay so bad news y'all
My iPod broke and I just can't live without one so I had to get a new one. Then my dad said when I come back to America he couldn't go to Atlanta to pick me at the airport , so I had to get a flight to another city
I am now broke and even though I have a few more days in Europe, I can't really travel anymore
Today I went to Bruges and here's my review:
Excellent for a day trip, it's your typical Flemish town so the architecture is the same as cities like Gent and Lille. Beautiful scenery, nice size so you can't get tired, lots of tourists but still not too crowded. Canals with swans and horse carriages in the city. Great beer--you gotta taste Belgian beer. It is so good. Belgium is a really small country and if you are in Brussels it takes like less than an hour in train to get to Bruges and like 10 euros.
Also the city is extremely safe. Most of Belgium sans Brussels feels really safe, though.

I really want to visit Bhutan, it's so beautiful. The scenery, the people, the culture.

Has anyone here been to Dublin?
I really want to go to Ireland, but I can't settle on a city. Dublin is the most obvious, but I don't know much about it.

I've never been but Dublin is the biggest city in Ireland so it should be a good choice. Look up things to do in Dublin and see if they match what you wanna do. Lists like this or this
If you're traveling alone, stay in a hostel to be around other solo travelers.

I think my top 3 places to go are London, Tokyo, and Amsterdam.
Also want to go to Dublin, Hong Kong, and maybe Berlin.

I've started to make concrete plans to go to NYC in early March. I've been wanting to go for years, and now I'm in a position where I could afford it and the timing is right, and I feel like if I don't go now, I don't know if I'll ever go.
Thing is I'm gonna go by myself and my mom is extremely worried that something will happen to me. She said she will literally be sick with worry the whole time I'm away She's also trying to convince me that it won't be any fun if I go by myself.
I'm gonna go regardless, but just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position having to reassure a parent and has any tips?

Dont listen to anything negative she may say to convince you not to go, its your life and your ambitions that you need to follow. My mom was supportive of my travel decisions and always will be as long as im going to safe countries. New York is one of the safest big cities in the world, as long as you have some common sense and watch out for yourself then you will be fine, there are police everywhere, it feels very safe.

Yeah my parents really don't want me to travel alone either
We do travel together a lot but not to places that I really wanna visit. I've been dying to go back to New York and to Europe for the first time but they keep saying it's weird (to go alone) and dangerous
I still wanna go but now idk. I'm thinking about just saving up my money this year to move out and then traveling next year.

Me, it was cute I guess. The pubs are nice but there isn't really much to see. I liked the nature more than the cities in Ireland.

I'm going back to the US for the whole summer and I can't wait I mean, I will work the first 8-9 weeks, but then I have 3 weeks to travel wherever I want. Got to see Boston, Cleveland (to see a friend), LA, San Francisco and NYC last year.
I was alone in NYC and SF and honestly, even though my mum probably almost died at home during those days, it was the best thing ever. Loved the freedom.

This is just what I'm planning on doing there:
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
MoMA
Jewish Museum
Central Park
See a musical/plan on Broadway
and just walk around lots and look at the city

If any of you dream of going to NYC but are scared or have family talking them out of it just please do it for yourself, New York has such an indescribable energy to it, you will feel full of life walking down those streets, it will change your life. It will be especially liberating for young gay people who may live in small towns. If you are an adult and have your own funds just GO
Greenwich Village, Empire State Building, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Washington Square Park, Central Park were some of my favorites places in Manhattan

Pretty sure I haven't been anywhere new in like six months.
I'm slowly dying inside.

What he said. It's cute, but you really don't need more than two days there. Check out Northern Ireland and the Irish coast instead, it's STUNNING.

I'm going to Johannesburg & surrounding areas for 2weeks at the start of February. My boyfriend is from there and he is there for a month at the moment and I'm joining him so it'll be good to have someone who knows what is good. Is anyone else from there or been there that knows of something that I absolutely must do while I'm there?

Nice thread! Traveling is my greatest passion. It's my first love.
Italy is the most beautiful country ever. The architecture, nature landscapes, art, culture, history, food = out of this world.
My greatest dream is to trek The Great Himalayan Trail. The mountains have been calling me for a while now but I'm scared to go. It's not just a test of physical strength but also mental health and ability. Also, I truly believe that a total surrender to nature is one of the most powerful and shaping experience we should try at least once in our lifetime.

Might be getting the opportunity to go to the UK, France + Italy in the fall. I have to save up like crazy cause I only bring home like 100 a week and I have rent, gas, and credit cards to pay off before I can really save. I have 100 in savings and need 900 by June and an additional 2100 by September
Saving 3000 is gonna be a miracle, but I really hope I can pull it off.
I've been stretching my neck out for other jobs but no one will hire me
