The future of the era (if there is any) is the Urban AC format. Silhouette and 11 : 11 are tailor made for urban AC and the audience of UAC buys albums.
Work From Home not a big change from what we had. Still a great song and perfect as a good intro track aswell. B.O.B. is cute, but doesn't adds much. 1000 great track, especially loving the instrumental. J-Doe is okay. Right Here Right Now grew to be one of my favourites from the era. Love the bridge especially. Double Tap it's cute and a nice experimenting track for Jordin. 2 Chainz is the best rap feature appearing so far for me.Boyz In The Hood Giving me lowkey The Way tease when the track starts, since it was originally her track, it makes sense. But I feel she could have done better than this one.Silhouette I am not a fan of the first few seconds with the "Silhouette. Silhouette..". But the track builds up in a cute way. They Don't Give It's great vibey track Left...Right? the Left; Right is stuck in my head every time I hear it. Great track overall. Casual Love this must be the most random addition on this record. I like it, but it is a departure from the rest of the album. Unhappy Loving this, the feature also sounds great.Tell Him I Love Him it's a great track, lover her vocally on this one. 11:11 I don't like the transition to both tracks, both a completely different vibe etc. but the track itself it great 100 Years 11:11 and 100 Years ft much better vibe wise, so these tracks going intoeachother fits better. It Ain't You nice track, but I seriously don't get why this is the album closer, when the two track sbefore it could ahve easily closed the album in a much better way.
Overall I am happy Jordin experimented with urban influenced material. But I feel the project suffers from a poor management when we talk about the tracklist and the fact that I feel some obvious producers missed during the recordingprocess. I feel that she should have worked on better transitions between tracks, maybe a few interludes could have worked etc. ALso I would have never added Casual Love, it doesn't fit with the flow of the album. It's cute, but just not for this album.I feel that if she was with a bigger label and had a bigger budget that people like Harmony Samuels, Detail and Cashmere Cat could have given the album a better body overall. I will support Jordin, since I am a fan and I can say that I will enjoy this record and keep replaying it. But I seriously don't get the single choices so far and how they balanced them.
Love: Silhouette, Boyz In The Hood, Work From Home, Left Right, Unhappy
Like: 1000, Double Tap, Tell Him That I love Him
Okay: Right Here Right Now, It Aint You, 11:11
Eh: They Dont Give, Casual Love
Can't Repeat/Usually Skip: 100 Years(not that its bad its just too laid back and the little spoken word interlude )
Yeah. "Silhouette" is definitely a spiritual successor to some of the stuff that was on Battlefield. It'd be a great set up if they sent that to Pop and "They Don't Give" to Urban AC.
Just got my copy and by suprise I see that every copy seems to feature the fan names so saw my named featured, this copy came form a local online store.
The only reason it's flopping on iTunes is literally because NO ONE knows Jordin has a new album out or is even making music still other than her stans.
