Teen heartthrob Austin Mahone steps into Z100 today to talk his new single and signing a Z100 radio deal (Plays song top of every hour), inspiration behind the song, and chat about the new album. lt was a pleasure speaking to him because he gave us ALL the tea and inside scoop. Yup you heard it here 1st! He came in bright and early so the song could catch everyone's ear before they headed off to work. Only to get it stuck in their head.
Host: Good morning! We're gonna start the interview off with you talking about the single. What was your inspiration behind it?
Good morning and thanks for having me here! First off lm in love with the single and the fans love it also. l was almost afraid of releasing it because its so... different. lt was the #1 Trending Topic and it reached #1 on the iTunes Chart so lm very happy about that. lm also proud of my fans for getting the song so far. lts not the typical Austin Mahone song that you'd hear from me and to see all that love is overwhelming. Complex Magazine loved it too! l hope more publications hop on the song.
Host: What was your inspiration behind the song?
A lot of things came into play when l was writing the song. My friend Robert and l were at our house l came up with this beat and we just started writing. We got finished and l was like "l can do better than this. lm 18 now and l can talk about more things as a man... as an adult." l want my debut album to be of quality and something my fans can remember and play years from now and it'll still sound fresh. That's why the song sounds so mature. lm in another space musically.
Host: What can we expect from the new album? Do we have a release date now?
Expect a classic. That's all l say. lm coming for Grammy's. l don't want to be arrogant but that's what l feel. l won't let me or my fans down
Host: What'll happen if that doesn't happen?
l'll have more up my sleeve. l always do. And l have the most dedicated fans in the world so they'll get me there. l know they will. l have them and they have me so that's all that matters.
My debut single peaked at like #4 or 5.
