Literally flawless top five and best song ever at #1 tbh. I love every artist on your most anticipated list except some of the few I'm not familiar with, and my body is ready for a new Radiohead release!!!
G.R.L. landed on the scene with their Pitbull feature and lead single, Ugly Heart, and it was cute! Their debut self-titled EP is quite promising and catchy - excited to see what G.R.L., one member less, does in 2015. #RIPSimoneBattle

#9 evian christ / waterfall
[[ tri angle records ]]
Tri Angle Records signee Evian Christ is one of the most exciting up-and-coming it producers IMO. His beats always have the ahead-of-the-curve feel and his aesthetic is certainly one worth swooning over. Should be an interesting 2015 for him.

Airhead, friend and signee of James Blake, put out an EP this year and it's probably not too far off of what you'd expect from a friend of Blake's: ambient, percussive, oddly dark yet catchy and overall quite sonically pleasant. Would like to hear an LP from this dude.

#7 brooke candy / opulence
[[ RCA records ]]
Brooke Candy's debut EP was definitely interesting. The title track is most clearly where it shines most, but the other tracks are other intriguing and show where Candy could go with her artistry. A few cute songs, but I think she can do better with her highly anticipated debut album!

#6 neon hitch / 301 to paradise
[[ self-released ]]
Dropped right away on the third of January in 2014, Neon dropped her second free EP (a follow-up to 2013's Happy Neon) and it was a nice tide over. Her work with Kinetics and OneLove was very fitting for her gypsy aesthetic and what not.

Flawless was already an incredible record to begin with, but adding Nicki Minaj to it, in
which she delivered one of her best verses of all time, was one of the best ideas Bey could've had.
A true bop, a true collaboration for the GODS and an undeniably huge event in hip hop/R&B.

The opening track for the Lorde-curated Mockingjay pt. I Soundtrack, this track has possibly
the most unpredictable lineup of artists imaginable for a collaboration of such. And it's GREAT.
• • • calvin harris & haim • pray to god • • •
It's always the artists that you could never imagine on a Calvin Harris song that are the
best Calvin Harris songs (see: Florence Welch on Sweet Nothing). This song gives me 80s
power pop anthem vibes in a fresh, new and reinvented way. It's a lovely collaboration.

Let's all just agree that this trio was not only unexpected, but damn near flawless. The fact
that Angel Haze was almost on this instead of Nicki... eek. I love how this turned out and how massive
this song was this year, a moment to be remembered in pop music. We need more collabs like this!

Rihanna lived vicariously through this low-key bop this year, and they both were STEAMING
in this hot, amazing video. A great, underrated record and kind of masterful collaboration.

James Blake is no stranger to EPs (he has probably north of 5 now) and revisited the EP world after releasing his sophomore LP in 2013. He tends to get risky and experimental on EPs and this one's no different. It's very twisted-sounding. Makes me ready for his next album in 2015!

#4 röyksopp & robyn / do it again
[[ dog triumph ]]
It isn't the first time that these two have collaborated, but this EP was especially promising and a very nice addition to the music of summer 2014. The perfect blend of electronica and pop music. Even the more experimental, inaccessible tracks are worth the attention. I'm not a huge Royksopp fan (I'm more of a Robyn guy) but this is a reason to listen to them if I've ever haerd one!

#3 dev / bittersweet july
[[ rica lyfe records ]]
I've always liked Dev. This EP came in two parts this year, one in September and one just last week - the former is the one I prefer and consider to be charting here (although both low-key count). Even though she will probably never top the first 5ish songs she did with The Cataracs, her music still gives me a surprising amount of life and her appeal somehow clicks with me. Maybe it's the turnt mom aesthetic?

#2 tove lo / truth serum
[[ universal records ]]
I've been watching Tove Lo closely since her blogosphere debut in early 2013, so when she announced the release of Truth Serum I was very excited! The end result was very promising and slowly Tove kept appearing more and more in my life. Her songs from this EP remind me of a very specific time in my life and I hold this release very true to me (all in all, I prefer it over Queen of the Clouds).

#1 doss / doss
[[ acephale records ]]
Doss may be a new artist, but I've known about her and her music for a very long time and she is an old friend of mine. I was very ecstatic upon news of her debut EP dropping and for a good reason, it's amazing! Her music is very soft but it's also hard hitting in a weird way. Her song 'Softpretty' probably best defines the sound of the electronic, eclectic EP. And her aesthetic... yes I will die when she releases a full length.
