This. I think if anything its underrated. People don't understand how much skill and thought goes into writing a song, creating the melody, telling a story, choosing the right words, not being so cliche, etc.
It's not easy..which is why most artists HAVE to collab with so many other songwriters and producers. It's a joint effort to make something sound good, and when it's finally released people criticize your work that you worked so hard on.
It can discourage some people from writing again.
