Colbie's EP is also on Spotify, and the article made it very clear the release was NOT going to be on there. And finally, the article clearly made it out to be a major artist, which Colbie just isn't.
It's not Colbie.

The Digital Music News album was never the same release as the HDD release.
WE LOVE SURPRISES. WE ALSO HATE SURPRISES: The biz is buzzing about a possible surprise release next week, with a couple of superstar acts the primary focus of the speculation. If somebody is indeed "pulling a Beyoncé," as it's come to be known, who might it be? (5/29p)
No mention of a major star, just a surprise release. That was followed by the Billboard article. The use of superstars and speculation doesn't mean it was a superstar. It's a play on words. Also the love and hate surprises means people's hopes were most likely going to be raised and then given the ohh. It's like when someone says they have something for you...then they give you a pencil. You were thinking cash and the pencil is nice but you hoped for something more.
Another surprise release
could happen in the near future. There are a sea of red herrings out there if you look for them.
