Really glad you’re still doing a Best of.
Albums- I like YYY’s old stuff better, I know I listen to new Eve this year and she’s still makes some good jams. The ones she is doing is good for itself in this day and age, but not exciting tho. Again her old stuff are some much better esp. in those times were good.
Songs- I Was a Fool sounds so nice, Let Me Go kinda speaks, but hey nice work by the married couple. Don’t Save Me is in my head right now. Good song. Didn’t like the remix for Cruise. Reminds me of bad times in music. It’s too bad that Nelly is not killing it anymore. His time is up and I still like his old hits. I reference them time to time. Like Explosions. Q.U.E.E.N is such a good song with such good mix of music.
And that’s all I care about. Nice job so far.

JEIBERT'S BEST OF 2013
ALBUMS
#61
KINGS OF LEON - 'Mechanical Bull'
 | RELEASED: September 20, 2013
GENRE: Alternative rock, Southern rock
LABEL: RCA
PRODUCER: Angelo Petraglia
FAVORITES:
❤❤❤❤ "Supersoaker"
❤❤ "Beautiful War"
❤❤ "Temple"
❤❤ "Wait for Me"
⚫ As a casual listener, Kings of Leon didn't fail to deliver with this album, such a chill, compared to their more aggressive past ones. And my female classmate was such a huge fan and she kinda influenced me to their sound more. The vocalist's voice is so distinctive that if anyone who hears such any tracks off this record, ears up! One would identify and would'nt give you any doubt that it's KOL that you're hearing!
2011: Justin Bieber - "Under the Mistletoe"
2012: Bridgit Mendler - "Hello, My Name Is..." |
#60
LAURA MVULA - 'Sing to the Moon'
 | RELEASED:March 1, 2013
GENRE: Soul, neo soul, R&B
LABEL: RCA Victor
PRODUCER: Steve Brown
FAVORITES:
❤❤❤❤ "Green Garden"
❤❤❤ "That's Alright"
❤❤ "Sing to the Moon"
⚫ As a finalist of this years BBC annual sound poll, her image and look and her placement on the charts grabbed my attention leading upon to my discovery of this album! Her sound is nothing new but a few bops were given and served! There's some boring points on the album and the uptempos were definitely the highlights! But better yet, watch the music videos as they served their purpose as visuals to accompany the singles, which worked for me in terms of listening
2011: Cascada - "Original Me"
2012: Kylie Minogue - "The Abbey Road Sessions" |
RECAP:
65. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's - 'Mosquito' | 64. Jessie J - 'Alive' | 63. Empire of the Sun - 'Ice on the Dune' | 62. Eve - 'Lip Lock'
SINGLES
#116
BRUNO MARS - "Treasure"
 | "...Treasure!!!, that is what you are...Honey, you're my golden star...You know you can make my wish come true,...If you let me treasure you,..If you let me treasure you..."
ALBUM: Unorthodox Jukebox
RELEASED DATE: May 10, 2013
GENRE: Disco, post-disco, R&B, funk
LENGTH: 2:56
LABEL: Atlantic
WRITER(S): Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Phredley Brown
PRODUCER(S): The Smeezingtons
WEEKS ON CHART: 9 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #13
⚫ This is the first song that caught my attention upon listening to the album! Such a standout track! I thought this would be another #1 for him but due to tight competition, it didn't but fared well though! The funkiness and the glittering tune were such a bop! Plus the video looks like it came straight outta the 70's which were a theme this era as well, reminds me of Hot Chocolate motown videos and Bruno made it worked! You may noticed there's no HD version of this video on VEVO too
2011: Bad Meets Evil - "Lighters" (feat. Bruno Mars)
2012: Rita Ora - "How We Do (Party)" |
#115
NAS - "Cherry Wine" (feat. Amy Winehouse)
 | "...Where is he?, The man who was just like me...Heard he was hiding somewhere I can’t see...And I’m alone, and I realize that when I get home...I wanna go through my red and my cherry..."
ALBUM: Life Is Good
RELEASED DATE: September 19, 2012
GENRE: Hip hop, soul
LENGTH: 5:56
LABEL: Def Jam
WRITER(S): Nasir Jones, Salaam Remi, Amy Winehouse
PRODUCER(S): Salaam Remi
WEEKS ON CHART: 6 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #06
⚫ One of the last tracks recorded by the late Amy Winehouse before she passed away. Having her voice present on this track, was the immediate standout for me and for the album right away! But the video, was so haunting that it made me missed her more as when the chorus kicks in, a silhouette projector was being visualized on the walls of the bar as if Amy's ghost is singing through the video. Nas delivered as usual but it was definitely Amy's and Salaam's production made this track outstanding for me!
2011: Chris Brown - Look At Me Now" (ft. Lil' Wayne & Busta Rhymes)
2012: Taylor Swift - "Begin Again" |
#114
DRAKE - "Hold On, We're Going Home" (feat. Majid Jordan)
 | "...So just hold on we're going home (going home), ...Just hold on we're going home (going home)...It's hard to do these things alone (things alone), Just hold on we're going home (going home, going home).."
ALBUM: Nothing Was The Same
RELEASED DATE: August 7, 2013
GENRE: R&B ; synthpop
LENGTH: 3:47
LABEL: OVO Sound; Young Money ; Cash Money ; Republic
WRITER(S): Aubrey Graham ; Noah Shebib ; Majid Al Maskati ; Jordan Ullman
PRODUCER(S): Nineteen85 ; Majid Jordan ; Noah "40" Shebib (add.)
WEEKS ON CHART: 9 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #12
⚫ It's up there with Take Care as Drake's most chill tracks! The hook and his warm and embracing vocals existent throughout the song sold itself on how I loved this! But for me, it's not his best nor my favorite! (I think he's best at more in the face rapping imo) but he kinda delivered for the vocals here! The song grew on me more when my dancer friend practices her routines and moves through this song as the background for their group's dance.
2011: Lady Antebellum - "We Owned the Night"
2012: Little Boots - "Headphones" |
RECAP:
125. Tegan and Sara - 'I Was a Fool' | 124. Avril Lavigne - "Let Me Go" (feat. Chad Kroeger) | 123. HAIM - "Don't Save Me"
122. Agnetha Faltskog - "When You Really Love Someone' | 121. Florida Georgia Line - "Cruise" (feat. Nelly) | 120. Paramore - "Now"
119. Ellie Goulding - "Explosions" | 118. Little Mix - "Change Your Life" | 117. Janelle Monae - "Q.U.E.E.N." (feat. Erykah Badu)

I totally agree with your Eve commentary. I think she could have came harder and the hype is just not there.
Queen so low

KOL, Sing to the Moon, Treasure

Mechanical Bull Caleb's voice is very unique indeed, one of their best features.
Drake is indeed a bit low
