Kelly Clarkson Fires Manager
Quote:
Amid controversy over her upcoming album My December, Kelly Clarkson has fired her manager.
A source confirms to Usmagazine.com that Clarkson has fired LA-based Jeff Kwatinetz, of the management company The Firm. "It happened last night. They disagreed over the songs and the direction. Everyone is surprised," says the source, who adds that Clarkson has not yet decided on a new manager. Another source adds, "Kelly had enough."
A rep for Clarkson has no comment at this time.
Clarkson and RCA head, Clive Davis, feuded over the direction of My December. A source close to Clarkson told Us that although the feud between them was "overblown," there were creative differences. The source adds the tug-of-war "was hard on Kelly" and that "it's a struggle that happens all the time."
Clarkson has not kept her dissatisfaction with the way reps and record label execs have handled her new album a secret. The singer recently told Elle Magazine: “I’ve sold more than 15 million records worldwide, and still nobody listens to what I have to say. Because I’m 25 and a woman.”
The magazine also reports that she fought with her label and representatives over her Idol Gives Back performance. "My label wanted me to sing 'Never Again,' and I was like, to promote yourself on a charity event is beyond crass. People are starving and dying and I'm up there singing some bitter pop song? And believe me, everyone wanted me to sing it. Because they are jaded and they have no soul. Imagine sitting in a room full of people totally against you. Can't they hear themselves speaking? Capitalize on AIDS? Are you kidding? Insulting an entire nation of people? I just refused."

And she brought it on herself! What an arrogant, moron Kelly is. Thought she could do it all on her own.
Sucks to be her!

I really think this album shows her versatility... i love it. Not only does she cross tons of genres but uses different sounds... i think thats why some people like a 'few' songs but not the others.
Im glad shes able to stand up to her manager / boss (clive) and say no.

Why ditto?
Kelly has been through so much, she hasn't brought anything on herself.
She's not being arrogant at all. She wanted to try her own thing and she did. As she said she doesn't care about being a star she just wants to sing.
Why don't you lay off her, I think what she's done is very commendable as not many artists would do that.

Kelly isnt being arrogant for firing Jeff and the Firm. Do you guys realize in 3 magazines Jeff basically bashed Clive and her record label without saying it? She cant be inbetween an on going battle just as her new record is coming out. its not kelly vs clive. its more jeff/the firm vs Clive/RCA. She aint gonna fire her record label so she fired her management.

Low Ticket Sales Sink Clarkson's Summer Tour
Kelly Clarkson
June 14, 2007, 2:25 PM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Kelly Clarkson has postponed her summer arena tour after lower-than-expected ticket sales forced the artist to reconfigure the show's "size and scope," according to a statement. The outing was supposed to begin July 11 in Portland, Ore.; tickets can be refunded at points of purchase.
"We came to the realization that we had bit off more than we could chew," says LiveNation CEO Michael Rapino, whose company is promoting the tour. "In the end, we are in the Kelly Clarkson business and for that reason we believe that this decision will only benefit her and her fans in the long run."
Current ticket-holders will be given first priority for seats once new dates, likely in the fall, are announced. "The fact is that touring is just too much too soon," Clarkson says on her Web site. "But I promise you that we're going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better."
The tour news is another blow to the set up for Clarkson's new album, "My December," due June 26 via RCA. The artist has admitted she had to fight hard with label execs to release an album of entirely self-penned material, on the heels of her smash 2004 album "Breakway," which featured a number of co-writes with experienced songwriters.
The new album's first single, "Never Again," slips 11-17 this week on the Billboard Hot 100.
^I think this article pretty much speaks for itself.

Well like I said in the other thread, a tour is too soon. The album isn't even out for another week and a half. Most artists wait a few months after the album comes out to go on tour.

I spend a lot of money for her tour, lol. But whatever, she has her reasons.
As long as the album doesnt get shelved, then i'm happy.
I bet the manager was the only one who wanted to do the big arena tours.

i dont know if it's the same or not, but sometimes when something big goes wrong and a magazine, or a newspaper, or newsletter... whatever .. is forced to redo their stuff, they always find a way to do so whether it'd be a double issue, triple issue, etc. i believe that kelly's album can easily be replaced with all new tracks in a two-week time period. they can even postpone the release date again if they wanted to.
in other news, i spent A LOT A LOT A LOT of money on her ****ing tour and she ****ing cancels???? total ********! i am sooooo not cool with this. i probably can't even get my refund back since i bought it from an independent ticketholder.

I hate to say it: Clive Davis was right.
The funny thing about 'My December' is that as a whole it's not as good as 'Breakaway', but in parts it kicks the previous record's ass hard.
'Breakaway' was a great pop record but other than 'BOY' there wasn't no other WOW songs (although 'SUBG' still kinda rox).
But the few songs 'My Dec.' do right are amazing:
Never Again is I think a great song, regardless if it flopped or not.
Sober, the second single, is one of the most amazing ballads I've heard in a loooong time. And that was on the first listen! Definitely one of the ones I've had on repeat.
Be Still was one of the pleasant surprised of the album, it's I dug more and more every time I heard it. Great.
How I Feel One of the more lighter songs on the album, I can just imagine the vid.
Can I Have a Kiss? Great song. Love the line if I can't have forever, can i have a kiss. Paraphrasing of course.
Irivine / Chivas I love this track! It showed a side of Kelly I never knew. Amazing.
and the rest were meh........and DARK.
And unforunately as a whole it's just dark and somber and repetitive.
I would download the above-mentioned and stay away from the rest.
'Thankful': C+
'Breakaway': B
'My December': B-

One Minute, Sober, and Be Still are without a doubt, this album's standouts. I am proud of her for Yeah and How I Feel because those sngs show some growth. Haunted is well-produced, but awful lyrics...the same goes for the rest of the album actually (haven't heard Judas yet though so the jury is still out on that one)
