GUIDELINE FOR PROFESSORS:
Duration of Courses
Term starts this Friday, March 15, 2013 and ends on Friday, March 29, 2013. Final Exam goes to Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Lesson Plans
You should create 5 to 10 lesson plans with each lesson plan has a question asking the student for their opinion relating to the lesson. You should post 1 lesson plan per 2-3 days in our 14 days calendar for the term.
Teaching Format
You have three options to choose how to teach.
(1) Use the personal blogs we have on atrl, here the students can interact and discuss easily on your lesson plans.
(-) Use this thread, inform the students that you will post lesson plans on this thread so they can check.
(2) Use the PM and send each lesson plan to the students, or request me to send it for you.
Make sure there is
a question / an assignment at the end of each lesson plan.
Teaching Format via BLOGS
Step 1: Create a title for your blog. Title shoul be:
"University of Music: COURSE NUMBER"
Check
Course Catalog:
here if you don't know your course number.
Step 2: Inform your students using PMs. Let them know to check your blog for lesson plans and assignments.
Check
Student Roster:
here if you don't know who are enrolled in your course.
Step 3: Have at least 5 lesson plans for 2 weeks and at least 1 lesson plan for each 2 to 3 days of classes.
Step 4: Make sure the students know the date of the Midterm and Final exams.
Examination and Grading
I will make all the exams and the professors are responsible for the class assignments. There should be one assignment/question for each lesson.
Note for professors and for students to know. These information has been updated into the Guideline for Professors and Students.
-----
Am I grading the students' in-class assignments?
Yes. You will grade them by this simple method: (1) fully completed, (2) somewhat completed, (3) or incomplete. You don't grade them on correctness.
(1) 30/30 points - completed or nearly completed all assignments from the lessons; participated very well in the discussion.
(1) 25/30 points - completed or nearly completed all assignments from the lessons; could have participated better.
(2) 20/30 points - completed
more than half of all assignments but missing 1/3 of all assignments.
(2) 15/30 points - completed
less than half of all assignments and missing 2/3 of all assignments.
(3) 10/30 points - completed less than 1/3 of all assignments.
Exams are standard. Math and Sciences are 20 questions and graded on correct/incorrect all-or-nothing scores.
Exams for Arts and most Music courses are in a format of having 1 essay question and graded on the wealth of information the student has learned and written down in the essay. This subjective grading is done by me or the professors.
Professors have the option to make your own exams if you want to, with
prior approval from me.
Professors will earn teaching credits for the courses taught, The students will rate their professors.
