That doesn't really justify why her almost her entire appeal was based on her being the anti-popstar . She even said it herself that people would come up to her and praise her for not dressing like Britney before they would praise her "talent" or her music; that's kinda sad.
It's sad that ATRL has such a skewed opinion when it comes to threads like these.
I realise it's all a matter of preference, but we essentially have an someone notoriously known for lip-synching, doesn't write most of her material, and has a career based off how her looks and the "girl next door" image that the world ate up.
On the contrary, we have an artist who is known to write all their material, actually has a decent voice, and plays instruments. Sure, it wasn't all about pretty colours and flashing lights with her, but her career was based off what came from the heart.
I actually like Britney more, but it's sad to see Avril being disregarded so easily when clearly she's the better talent.

But Britney wrote majority of her unreleased
The entire In the Zone album (minus Toxic and Breathe on Me)
89% of the Britney album
Some of the Circus Album
Also don't act like Avril didn't start her career with an image as well, the whole "Skater Punk Rebellious Teen" was an image with her bashing Britney and Xtina and all

I see your point but their is more talented singers in the pop industry to use as an example.
